I'm reaching out to my fellow fans. I'm a new Ten Club member and want to know what show you all suggest I use for my free download. Thanks upfront for all of your suggestions.

The sound quality of all the boots currently in the store (2008-2010) leaves a lot to be desired - they aren't in the same ballpark as those from 2000-2006 (no longer available to buy, but you'll find links on the forums).

The good news is that it appears Brett Eliason (mixer of the 2000-2006 bootlegs as well as Live On Two/Ten Legs) is back on board this year, the free Toronto show already mentioned sounds great.

My advice is not to waste your time with the boots currently in Goods - wait until the 2011 shows appear shortly and grab one of those.

Spencer brings up some decent points here. The '08,'09,and '10 boots do not sound as clear and full as the '00,'03,and '06 bootlegs. Nonetheless, there are still many great shows from '08-'10 that are worth owning. Boot's sound quality doesn't always make for a good bootleg all around. It should be noted that the 2009 and 2010 boots sound a hell of a lot better than 2008. The Toronto show that's been put out for free from 2011 does sound like we are about to receive the best bootleg mix since '06.

To answer your question, if you decide to get a bootleg that's available now instead of waiting on the 2011 boots to come, here is what I recommend:

For now, skip 2008 because the boots sound rather bad. Way too much low end, and the mix is muddy as can be.

2009 is a great tour with some boots that sound flat out amazing. If you are looking for the best sounding bootleg, go for Los Angeles 10-7-09. The bands performance is very solid as well, not to mention a pretty killer set. Im sure some will recommend the Philly shows. While Philly 10-30-2009 is quite excellent, the other Philly shows are not ones I would recommend starting with.

2010 has some of my favorite shows period, and I think the 2010 boots sound better than both 2008 and 2009 on average. Hartford and Buffalo will not leave you disappointed. If I had to recommend merely one boot to download it would be Hartford 2010. The band is full of energy, Ed sounds great, the setlist has a perfect mix of rarities and hits, the crowd is fantastic, and the boot sounds quite nice.
