    i don't understand the question, "is this reasonable".

    this is politics, it has nothing to do with "reason".

    these guys are party mates, when it comes down to it.

    the party LINE is NO TAX INCREASES.

    This is a REPUBLICAN primary debate.

    These guys would be thrown out of their party for not towing the line on this "simple" Party policy.

    What is so unreasonable about solidarity under the gun?

    This has to do with appeasing the Republican base and appearing "as republican as the next guy", not with being "reasonable" or not.
