Pearl Jam inspired wedding!!!

Ok, so this is a crazy story that only true Pearl Jam fans can understand and appreciate. I'm from the deep south. My fiance is from up north. We met when I moved up north to go to school. How did we meet? Our joint LOVE of Pearl Jam. :D One night my fiance-to-be was on myspace just looking around, and he put "Pearl Jam" in his search criteria. My profile popped up. Long story short, 5 1/2 years later, Eddie puts out his ukele album and I hear "Longing to Belong." I tell my then-boyfriend that if we ever get married, we have to dance our first dance to that song. We went to see Eddie on his solo tour, at the St. Louis show on July 1st this year. Sadly, Eddie did not play that song at the concert but it was still the most amazing concert experience we've ever had, hands down! I would love to have a recording of that concert!!! After we got back to the hotel, my then-boyfriend played "Longing to Belong" from his i-phone and popped the question. For our ceremony, all music will be Pearl Jam. I will not be walking down the aisle to "here comes the bride," I will be walking down the aisle to Pearl Jam. We will dance our first dance to "Longing to Belong," and in true Pearl Jam fashion, we will end the night with "Yellow Ledbetter." Our table numbers will not be numbers, they will be named after Pearl Jam songs. Some people think I'm taking it a little too far, but I know my fellow PJ fans will understand. I just want to say thank you, a million times thank you, to Pearl Jam. If it were not for you and your music, my fiance and I never would have met. Words can't express how awesome this whole thing is, and I can't wait to have my Pearl Jam inspired wedding!

That's just AWESOME!!!!! Congrats on the wedding, and on your love story! I don't think it's possible to take PJ too far!
The thing I like most about time is that it's not real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee- but that's all it is- a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate, the only thing they would ever say is "Now". That's what time it is. It's "Now". - Damien Echols

  • Jodiem, I have to say - it's so great not having to try to explain the passion I have for the band...he just gets it because he has it too. I have dated people who didn't, and obviously they didn't last long! Your PJ fan is out there somewhere. :)

Pamela0222, thanks for the well-wishes and the "I don't think it's possible to take PJ too far!" :D

That's the dream, isn't it? Every girl I've dated has only sort of liked them, based on my love. So far I have yet to meet a girl who's as loco as I am about them. I feel like I will eventually meet my future wife at a PJ show.

@ranca80: Congrats on the wedding! I love the PJ theme! Only a Jamily can understand the extent of the love!

Ha ha ha! I wonder how many relationships have actually started on the forum?

Yeah, I've heard the term Jamily used a few times when describing the lot of us Pearl Jam fans. I feel it's a pretty excellent way to describe us!
  • that's just wonderful, congratulations!!! best of wishes, and i couldn't imagine a better idea for a wedding!

    This is beautiful

I e-met my fiance on here in 2007, we then met in person, fell in love, he proposed after the PJ show in berlin last year and now we're getting married this Friday (25th).
We too have PJ featured a lot (we met through the band like yourselves, how could we not??) we have the Ten Piano versions playing before the ceremony, and we too are ending the night on Yellow Ledbetter with another 8 or 9 PJ songs thrown into the reception... We were going to name our tables after PJ songs too but we're headed to the Deep South for our honeymoon so named our 11 tables after the 11 cities we're visiting. We have around 40 people from here sharing our special day with us and I can't wait to get on the dance floor with them, in my big silly dress and dance to Alive and Do The Evo

Huge congratulations to you guys and I wish you all the happiness in the world. May you have many years together and lots of PJ loving babies :mrgreen::mrgreen:
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

That is so AMAZING!!! Isn't wonderful how Pearl Jam's music can just connect people like that? Congrats on your (very soon to happen) wedding!! I knew about the string quartet pearl jam (actually used that for my 30th birthday last year) but not the piano pearl jam. I'll have to track that down!

I hope your wedding is as wonderful as you could ever hope for and your lives afterwards are even better! :D
