Thought something positive would be refreshing around here, amidst football molester scandals, absurd Teabag debates and unavailable deluxe blu-rays.

I was about 1 or 2 months old when these were launched. Now I'm an old fucking man. Amazing that we can communicate with machinery that's farther away than Pluto. Not to be too political, but who says the government never gets anything right?

I prefer Foldgers coffee bags over a majority of different teas out there, but yeah, it's pretty amazing that these probes are still trucking.

It uses less power than 3 light bulbs, at least I think that's what it said. :o

    And this is cool too:

When the twin spacecraft do fall silent, they will continue to serve as earthly messengers. Attached to their flanks are their celebrated golden records — 12-in. (30 cm) gold-plated copper disks containing analog etchings of pictures, music and greetings from Earth. The disks resemble old phonograph records and work like them too — but that, of course, makes sense. In 1977, who in the world had heard of a CD?

Exactly. When V'ger comes back to destroy the Earth this whole thing won't seem so "cool".

Although I think the one from Star Trek was a fictional Voyager 5 or Voyager 6 that in reality was never launched as the program ended with Voyager 2.

It's a time-lapse video from the international space station with low-light cameras and it is AMAZING!
