Not a big fan, I think my sister was and I thought everything she did was cool so I might have stole her 5 Man Acoustical Jam cassette and played it over and over again :D

    Right. Much smaller venue.

I loved this album back in the day. It was one of the only "butt rock" albums I listened to (if you could call it that).

I agree. They got put in the hair metal group but probably should have been in the somewhat progressive rock/metal. I just know they were way too talented for the hair metal groups. The Great Radio Controversy still holds up, wish I was seeing them again, they put on such a good show.

My old band opened for them once...it was past their prime but I was still stoked...Frank Hannon was a mess at the time.

Just pulled out my VHS of this show, it was a really cool concert. I really need the DVD as VHS is just shit, can't believe that was the thing 20 years ago.

i still have this on cassette lol...it is one of my favorite albums. i remember being obsessed with learing the extended intro to love song on my guitar, it is one of the first things i ever learned to play.

they were just here at pop's last week and i did not find out about it until the day after :(

Yeah, Tesla was one of those few bands of the hair metal era that was unfairly lumped in with the big hair lot. They and Cinderella had a more lasting sound, a more bluesy classic rock type sound. Tesla just played here last week but I couldn't make it.

How do we define hair metal?
Everyone claims that their fav 80's rock/metal band is 'unfairly lumped into the hair metal genre'....

KISS? They were around before hair metal - they don't fit the bill....
Crue? They made makeup and spandex mainstream onTheatre of Pain, but they transcended their followers, can't call them hair metal...
Skid Row? Sebastien Bach is one of the greatest vocalists ever! They're so much more than hair metal...
Tesla? They were great musicians, how can you lump them in with Poison?
Cinderella? Too bluesy to be hair metal

If we define it as a look, ALL of the above bands are somewhat guilty..But I think they all kick ass, personally...
Love this album, hope they make it up here...Tesla is a great band, I've seen them four or five times....best duelling guitar solos ever!

Just came back from the Irving Plaza show. They were AMAZING!!! I don't know what I was expecting. I've never seen them live and really only know the stuff on the 5 Man Acoustical Jam album so I was really going for sentimental reasons because I stole my sister's cassette at some point and played it till it broke. Or got lost.

Go see them if they come to a town near you. You won't regret it.:mrgreen:

The most awesome part about the show was just how happy they all were!

So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own fuckin' sign :mrgreen:

I LOVE Love Song. They sounded amazing, exactly like the album. I might venture to say better too, because all good bands sound better live :mrgreen:
  • Man I'd love to see this. Great band. I bought the five man DVD within the last year. So good

Actually yes. I looked last night and I do believe I saw Biloxi on there. 3 hours and I'm there.
