Soldier Field '95 and Ed's Voice

So I finally downloaded this yesterday and was able to at least successfully make disc one. I listened to the beginning on the way to work today, and while the energy is electric, I've got to say that I prefer Ed's voice today to back then in the early years. He seemed to growl and wail to the point where it sounds like he was hurting his voice, and it doesn't sound as good as compared to his more controlled wailings and screams now...at least that's my early opinion of SF '95.

My 2nd point/question...anybody have any recommendations on what to do when you're trying to burn a cd and it keeps saying disc error, and you have to throw the discs out? Last night was probably the final straw for me to finally get an ipod, but until then, should I re-download the show from yousendit, and then re-extract the music into rar's or what? I'll be pissed if I can't get this complete show.

Thanks.

Try slowing down your burn speed. You may be burning at too high of a speed for your drive or the media you are using.

Also, do you have a crappy type of blank CD's??

That's a FANTASTIC bootleg! One of my favorite shows EVER.....the version of "Even Flow" in that show will never be topped.....not too long, not too short.....Mike's solo is amazing.

I actually got that suggestion off the computer last night. I'll have to see if I can figure that out how to modify that. It told me to go to Options...but is that Options in my burning software or under My Computer?

I don't think they're crappy...just a 50 pack bundle of TDK 700MB 80 MIN CD-R's. They've worked for me fine in the past until a couple days ago.

Thanks for the replies though. I can't wait to complete my discs.

Oh...Chile...I got the download off of...

...compliments of our own, I'm Gone. I'm sure you can find the link under his posts on this board as well.

I have one more question...I have no problems with these megaupload links, but what about the yousendit links telling me they have no more free uploads. Do I have to pay for this or just wait patiently until space opens up?

I think 95 was Ed's weakest point as far as live vocals are concerned. His voice was really strained that whole tour. 91-94 his voice was peefect. The bootlegs from 95 are great, and they have some of my favorite versions of songs. But listen to something like Blood from San Jose. The band is f***ing hauling ass, but Ed's voice can't keep up. I think that was his low point, and he's been getting progressively better since then.

you know, i thought the same thing when listening to the new year's eve 92 boots. i used to question ed's voice as it aged, thinking maybe it wasnt as powerful and deep as it once was. but he sounds better now than ever before. though that soldier field show is pretty steallr nonetheless ;)

dyou still have a link to that detroti 98 show at the palace? i fucked up and lost it somehow.

Ahh... my first show! I paid top dollar for these tickets and my dad took me to the show! It was the longest show played to date. I remeber this show was cancelled and rescheduled numerous times. I think it was also broadcast over the radio. I remember fireworks going off in behind the stage during Immortality. Years later I paid a lot of money for the boot which was missing one song (Animal).

I agree that his voice has gotten better through the years. He has developed more melody and tune to his voice. A lot of that could be the diversity of songs they write. But, that soldier field show was great for a lot of reasons. There hasn't been a show with more anticipation than that one. The whole ticketmaster deal and then cancelling the rest of the tour only to announce a few weeks before hand that it was back on. For a big ass venue like soldier field, I thought they sounded great and kept the intensity.

His voice will never have the fulllness it once had in the 91-94 period. His voice carried better than it does now. But he really blew it out around 95, and since then hes gotten a LOT better at controlling his voice. But the fullness isnt there anymore.

Even from a year ago, I just listened to "Crapshoot" aka Comatose from that show a year ago. His voice, especially in the intro to the song is a lot stronger than how he can sing it now. Its just what happenes. His voice changes pretty regularly during and after each tour.

But yeah, his voice sounds pretty stellar for the most part this tour. Now he needs to drop the fuckin cigs!

If you want an example of how amazing eds voice was, download the zip file from this site (the individual song links dont seem to work, but its not too big)...

Listen to Hunger Strike. its acapella, just ed. People always say he wailed to much back then, and this is an example of him SINGING really REALLY well. He just isnt able to pull this off as well anymore.

Yeah, I think you do have to just keep trying unless you want to subscribe which probably means a fee. usually only takes at the most 4 tries though before a space opens up. You also only get to download 1Gb a day unless you pay the fee then you get more.
    done
