Another excellent teaching video from The Story of Stuff Project! Thanks for posting it, polaris_x.

Consider a donation- they only ask for ten bucks.

Yes, the environmental angle is relevant. Without a world healthy enough and clean enough to live in there would be no economic, political or social issues to debate and a lot of the money that is going to the dinosaur economy is going feeding a system that is making our world unlivable.

It's time to end the dinosaur economy!

I do agree with some of her points, but she is clearly pushing a democrat agenda. It would be nice to see her put together the same presentation, but with less bias.

Also, why bring up the "fair share" argument early, and then go on a ten minute rant about how our government cannot spend effectively and responsibly??? It's like giving a $20 bill to a bum and then complaining that he will only spend it on Mad Dog 20 / 20.

 This is so typical. Make a statement (or video) acknowledging the problem and offering a solution to fix it and no doubt, someone will scream that it's politically biased. It's the NUMBER 1 reason NOTHING GETS SOLVED.

I have to agree, Jason P. I didn't get any sense of partisan favoritism. If there's any bias in the presentation it's a bias toward doing what makes sense. Any of the information Annie Leonard presents would be hard to dispute and rather than just rant, she presents some good ideas we can act on.

Exactly. Present facts and keep biased imagery and political buzz-words out of it and you may accomplish spreading a message. Do you think this video will appeal to any conservative minded thinker? Hell no it won't. Using "fair share", 99%, graphic imagery of big business and big pharma as evil creatures ... what does that accomplish? For me, it was a major distraction and takes away credibility.

How can I trust the source information any more then a video released from a conservative think-tank? You're angry because people scream it's politically biased. But it is politically biased. It didn't have to be.

But the video does bring up important considerations of our current system. Unfortunately, they have focused the video so that it will only appeal to their choir. If it's being used to get donations from the choir, that's fine. But if their intended purpose is to spread a message, they are going about it in the wrong way.

    are you serious?

the democrats are deeply entrenched in the dinosaur economy ... how do you get any partisanship from this video?

sorry dude ... unless you are prepared to say that republicans are the only ones that support big pharma and big business - you are coming across as someone who wants to rationalize against this video ...

Like I said before, people like you are the reason that real problems never get solved because you're too focused on the diversion. You're being played, dude.

Food Inc. would be a good example of how to get a point across without letting personal opinions interfere with the message.

Sorry Jason P but I still agree with what Jeanwah and Polaris_x said- I don't see it as politically biased. This is a good example of why labels often don't work. You could call The Story of Broke "leftist", "democrat", "progressive" or whatever but doesn't it all really fit much better under the heading of "common sense"? Isn't the narrator really just telling it like it is?

Also, I didn't see it as preaching to the choir. I think the Story Of videos have a very educational feel to them.

But besides presentation, what about content? How do you view the information and the challenges to do things differently, especially the challenge of taking things back from the powers that be to the good of the rest of us? Do you see these as useful?
