My first Ed solo expieriance and it was terrific, and thanks to 10c it was even better with great seats.

Highlights for me: Millworker,Sometimes,Girl from North Country,Far Behind,Porch

Arc was really cool as well

I caught a glimpse of Ed before the show by his tour bus and he was kind enough to say hello

El Conde has great food, scored a poster, the show was something I'll always remember(who knows when I'll ever get a chance to see just Ed)

Liam is super talented and EJ was great as well

Those going to see Ed in the future are in for a great night

Hands down one of the best concert experiences of my life. Very different. Hope to see him again in an even smaller venue.

I agree with you. Very different, very cool, and quite the different experience. I feel very lucky to have been to Hartford and now this show. I am also very glad my son was there with me. Thumbing My Way and Man of the Hour were his highlights. Eddie is an amazing musician and talent. I loved when he smacked himself in the head when he fucked up the lyrics in Driftin'. I also never thought I'd be sitting at a show while Porch is being played.

  • first off, the united palace theatre was a beautiful venue. highlights for me had to be Millworker, Here's to the State of Mississippi, Arc and Hard Sun (the backdrop at the end was quite amazing).

i was absolutely cracking up during ed's little stunt with the looping "mood music." hilarious.

I don't know what others thought about liam finn, but i thought he was stunning. i had never seen him perform live, but after last night i was a converted fan. i'll def be seeing him in nyc in september.

    What an amazing evening...
Thanks to ccnyc for putting the Coogans pre-show together - met some great folks, rocked out a little and threw some spirits down...
Thanks 10C for the great seats...
Highlights: The Theater was impressive and beautiful...Arc, Girl from North Country, Picture in a Frame and Millworker - amazing -Liam -wow-for my first solo show I thought the ITW tunes were amazing...Barry White parody was comical and Ed's banter with the crowd was great...hugged Messier at the merch table (as a NYR fan, words can't describe -sorry)...watched Susan Sarandon & Tim Robbins come out to their Prius - super cool vibe and the fellow Jammers made the show special...
I'll never forget last night - I hope a boot somehow gets released...
Thanks to the folks around me who allowed me to sing along and "rock out" without complaining :)
The poster is awesome (Batman) and I hope everyone who is attending the upcoming shows enjoys the special experiment.
Thanks Eddie - the incredible show you provided last night I will not 'soon forget'...

Was it just me or did anyone feel a little pang of sadness when
Eddie sang "Man of the Hour"? When he sang the line "cause
the man of the hour is taking his final bow, goodbye for now"
it really hit me that we won't be seeing them for a while :-(

I thought Eddie was hilarious last night, he had great banter
with the audience, even with the shouters.

    Arc was simply beautiful...
  • Awesome show, hope it doesn't make him go solo for good though. It may be the best concert I've ever been to, or close to it. I wish he would have done "Fatal", do they ever do it?

  • What a beautiful night!! I also went to Berkeley 1 and I have to say that I enjoyed NY 2 more! Don’t get me wrong, Ed was amazing at Berkeley, but the audience was a little too laid back that night. Last night’s crowd was much better (although a little obnoxious here and there – oh, man, Ed’s Tomas Young speech being interrupted made me want to kill someone!)

I loved the singalong as he entered to Elderly Woman (Hello!!!) And I love Walking the Cow so I’m always happy to close my eyes and just listen to how gently he sings that one. Seeing Sometimes and North Country - incredible. And the screw-ups and joking around on Guaranteed and Drifting – to me, that just adds to the whole relaxed, hanging-with-an-old-friend (who just happens to be Eddie Vedder) atmosphere that I’ve felt at these shows. These shows are such a great complement to the rocking out of a full-blown PJ show and I hope that everyone who is a fan of Eddie’s and the music has a chance to see both types of performances. I’m really hoping that this is something Ed continues to do in the future!

So here’s a funny story I didn’t see mentioned yet: before playing Picture in a Frame – when he was making the dedication to the couple with the 5-year anniversary – he said he really wanted to dedicate it to anyone with 20+ years together. I think what he said was “Wait……. give it time ... things change.” And then something like “It gets difficult. I mean… even when you’ve got a *perfect* guy (patting his own chest) … it’s difficult” I don’t know if I’ve got wording correct there but it was pretty cute. I also appreciated the story about Olivia and the bear, she sounds adorable. I'm really glad that he seemed to be feeling great and was joking around so much. Someone else mentioned that these shows are like Storytellers and I definitely agree that the banter, joking and connecting-of-the-dots are a big part of what makes these shows feel so special.

He did mention before MOTH that the song was about “tricky” fathers – and he hoped that his daughter never related to it. I was a little bit surprised by that because it had never entered my interpretation of the song that the Dad was “tricky” or someone to avoid emulating. I know the Dad from that movie drove his son a little crazy but he seemed like a great guy and I’d never listened to the song before as anything but a positive tribute. Hmmmmm…

And, yeah, the “Barry White” loop with mood lighting was hilarious. Reminded me of the “When Harry Met Sally” scene for a minute there ;)

    Thanks, Ed and 10C!!

Nice review, you pretty much summed up my feelings.
I too, thought the crowd was pretty good. I think sometimes
when an audience is too quiet, it feels like they are bored
or disinterested. At least with last night's crowd you knew
they were into the show. But you'll get eegits at every show,
    no matter what.

I was third row center and the experience was amazing. We got some great new songs, hilarious stories, and an AMAZING sing along Porch. This definitely beat night 1 for me.

I think the highlight for me was Arc. I've seen people rave about it here, but had trouble imagining what it would sound like live. I was blown away.
  • Good show. Could have done without all the morons shooting their flashes off every 10 seconds....and running up the aisle to get closer to take pictures.

it was a mix of both where I was sitting. songs like Porch and Wishlist were sung along to ... while others weren't. I sing along to everything at PJ concerts, but for this show, I was content with just listening for most of the time.

There is definitely singing, but the acoustics in these places are so good, it doesn't really interfere. Unless you have a guy right next to you shouting at the top of his lungs, that is.

the loud singing on every song is one of my fiance's main complaints about going to pj and ed shows. It CAN get pretty annoying and sometimes people don't think about how other's feel around them. I know they want to be a part of it and feel the music, but there definitely is a line between enjoying the show, and ruining it for other people close to them. Hopefully the shows I'm going to people won't be so rude in our ears, because then I won't hear the end of it for weeks. :p

  • Great show. Only downpoint was the "Fraggle Rock" interruption or whatever. EV def able to hold it together better than I would in that situation. Had a great time though
