What a joke here's a quote from him yesterday “They don’t deserve it...we owe it to them to say a prayer for them and to make sure that they understand that their life is one that can be enriched.”

Really? Less praying and more calling the cops you ass hat. Fire him!!! I'm sure these poor kids are really happy your praying for them now.

This reminds me of the Catholic Church cover up.

I believe he's been fired already... as he and all of them should be.

My question is this: the janitor or whoever (I haven't read enough details) that saw this occurring in the showers and went to someone who went to Joe Pa.... why the hell did he not do anything right then and there? I don't care who you are, a janitor, or higher up... you do something when you see that happening. Right then. Right there. Maybe dial 9-11 first... maybe dial after. But, do something. I mean, to walk away... then tell a supervisor. Is this really what happened? If so, that's crazy. I would have immediately ran over, broke it up... and told the dude to get the F out of there. Even if he was bigger than me. I would have then called the police. I would not have gone to my "supervisor" until after all the above happened.

This whole thing sickens me from the details I've heard. Our society is so warped.

  • Why wasn't JoePa talking about praying for the victims before the media got ahold of the story.

Asshole should be fired in disgrace, and should NOT be allowed to coach the final home game.

Reminds me of the Boy Scout cover up, another organization held in high esteem that tried to sweep their abuses under the carpet.

I agree that the janitor and his buddies should have called the police. The police should have been on the campus even before JoePa knew of the incident.

Along with all the people being charged in the case, someone needs to tell me, WHY the wife hasn’t been put in handcuffs. This f—k was molesting children in her HOME. SHE KNEW. This f—k was taking these kids on family trips, SHE KNEW. SHE KNEW, and DID NOTHING, SAID NOTHING. This f—k was adopting kid and housing foster kids and SHE KNEW he had a PROBLEM. SHE KNEW he ‘loved’ CHILDEN. SHE KNEW he ‘loved’ being with young BOYS. SHE KNEW her marriage was a fake and SHE DID NOTHING.

SHE could have stopped HIM. SHE should have reported HIM to the authorities. HELL, his sons had to be suspicious, instead they all protected their dirty little family secrets.

I've yet to read anything about the wife.... but good point(s). I say fire them all. I don't care how long the coach has been at the school. Some mistakes/oversights/transgressions are unforgivable. Coach should be gone, athletic director, any university higher-up/representative that was aware of the cover-up should be fired.

Quasi-forcing the coach to retire at the end of the season isn't a severe enough punishment. They should all be fired by the weekend or yesterday :) Disgusting behavior and corruption.

Actually, I think the public response shows an improved society. Younger people have a dialogue about abuse and trauma and appropriate responses. Grampy Joe probably couldn't get his head around it at the time and operated in a fog of denial about it, i.e. thinking that someone needs to tell that guy to knock whatever the hell he's doing off and then he'll stop and then we can carry on like nothing happened. They all have to go, but I feel bad for the rest of the Penn State community that didn't have anything to do with it. I'd be floored if it was my school.

I'm just curious but how do you know Sandusky's wife knew what he apparently was doing with boys in his house and elsewhere? Its one thing to be suspicious but you or I don't know the living conditions in their home....he might of been THE dominant household figure and no one in that home dared question what he did...some homes are just like that.

This tells some of the sequence of events on how no one from McQueary on up did nothing to stop the continuation of abuse of children. There was a serious cover up that started with Mike McQueary-J McQueary-Joe Pa-Shultz-Curly-Spainer THEY ALL knew about the 2002 incident.....this will not go away anytime soon.

i don't understand why all of the focus is on paterno in the media. the guy is fired in disgrace. where is the round the clock coverage of the guy that actually sexually assaulted these kids? why are the students not gathering outside sandusky's house demanding his imprisonment?

this has been my problem with the coverage as well. We have a man who molested/raped children and all the focus is on whether or not the grad assistant should have done more. Morally, I suppose he should have. I like to think I would have...but to sit here and crucify everyone else involved while ignoring the real problem is sad...Sandusky is a piece of garbage and should never see the light of day as a free man again...Paterno should have been fired, he made a poor choice and choices should have consequences... Too bad really, as far as football goes, the guy ran a clean program...too bad he didn't run a clean coaching staff.

there are two things really ... sandusky and the culture of entitlement at penn state ... someone posted a link in the AET thread that there have been like over 150 sexual assault charges against athletes and students and none of them have stuck ... this is an organization that enabled this kind of behaviour across the board ... and now they are going down in utter disgrace ..

Really, that’s like asking how does a person know when they are being cheating on! The signs were there, she knew and chose to ignore and dismiss them, just like the rest of them. So what if he was a dominant and controlling ‘man of the house’ type person, bottomline Sandusky is a pedophile, his actions were those of a pedophile. Sandusky preyed on children, he was obsessed, and he used his power and influence as part of Penn State and Second Mile to garden children in order to satisfy his pedophile needs, even at the risk of ruining the reputation of Penn State and Second Mile. So do you really think his HOME was immune to satisfying his pedophile needs, NO? He repeatedly brought those kids into his home and sexually assaulted them. He repeatedly took them on overnight family trips and outings and sexually assaulted them; and you think She was clueless? Just because She may have been afraid to speak up, She knew, and just like those who turned on blind eye on campus, She turned a blind eye to what was going on in her own home, and She should be lumped into that group being investigated for criminal negligence.

No I do think his home was immune to his offensive acts or anywhere else. That's one thing but it's another to assume that his wife and others in the home knew. I say this because I once taught pre-school and on our soccer and softball fields were used we had a child molester who molested children while parents, coaches, officials and myself were right there on the field. We didn't suspect anything at the time till sometime later he revealed he did such acts in another school and on that field. He's now searving 25-life sentence.

These people who do these horrendous crimes are slick/sly in what they do so I question how we can just assume his wife and sons must automatically know he did these things at home. I do certainly think he did them there.

I really think this is just the tip of the iceberg. I think there are a lot more people involved in the cover up and mre kids which is just awful.

How about the young & dumb Penn State students last night. If I would see my son in that crowd I would have been pist.

I'm all for peaceful public actions/rallies/protests..... but the actions of Penn State students/supporters to actively protest against the firing of the coach or anyone else linked to this deplorable chain of events is very disappointing. In my opinion, it further tarnishes my opinion of the school/situation. It's really too bad. Like many other institutions, there's probably a lot of great people working and learning there, but the actions of the apparent minority are going to ruin the perception of the school in my opinion and maybe others' too.
