For me, The Angels are one of the best rock bands Australia produced. Balls out pub rock from the 70s-80s. To me they are our version of the Ramones. I've seen Mike wearing Angels t-shirts in Australian shows a number of times. Guns & Rose sited them as a major influence.

Discovered by AC/DC in the 70s. These guys toured as their support act on a couple of tours and even sat in the recording studio while AC/DC recorded Let There Be Rock while they waited for their turn in the room and often with the same instruments and producers.

Have a look, most of their songs are on this list...

What do you think of them... :)

I was a huge fan back in the 80s. The "Face to Face" album got a lot of airplay on KROQ in Los Angeles. Due to the fact there was an American band known as ANGEL back then, they called themselves ANGEL CITY in the U.S.
  • Writing this from just up the road from you in Australind.

I assume you are referring to The Angels (not Angles). Great Aussie rock band not quite up there with Cold Chisel as they did not have the variety of music or songwriting talent, but when they rock they rock.

Ok let's hear the response "Am I ever gonna see your face again..."
Now I'm livin' out here on the beach,
but those seagulls are still out of reach.

  • Great thread Paul. The most under rated Aus band. The Face to Face and No Exit albums are classics, and their later stuff was good too. Heaps of great singles, and album tracks too. Saw them many times during the classic pub rock scene of the early 80's - great concerts, non - stop rockingly energetic shows, easily matched Chisel & the Oils as my favourite gigs. (OMG - just remembered the pogo!) Actually saw them again 2 years ago with their classic line up at the Enmore Theatre on Anzac Day...quite frankly didn't expect them to be much good, but surprisingly were terrific...and I was sober! Straight Jacket on NOW!!!!
