Probably my most anticipated album of 2012, and yes I'm well aware that Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are putting albums out (hopefully) next year, too. Lanegan can do no wrong. Check it out, from http://onewhiskey.com/news.html:

NEW ALBUM DUE OUT FEBRUARY 6th, 2012! European tour to follow

Mark Lanegan Band returns with new album, Blues Funeral

Blues Funeral is the new Mark Lanegan Band record, the first since 2004's Bubblegum.

It was recorded in Hollywood, California by Alain Johannes at his 11ad studio. The music was played by Johannes and Jack Irons with appearances from Greg Dulli, Josh Homme et al.

Mark Lanegan has sung with Screaming Trees, Queens Of the Stone Age, The Twilight Singers, The Gutter Twins, Soulsavers and Isobel Campbell. He resides in Los Angeles and has two dogs.

Blues Funeral will be available digitally and on CD and LP on February 6th, 2012 via 4AD.

Album will be fucking awesome, I'm sure.

Wish he was doing some US dates. Preferably in Utah...
    7/2/06 - Denver, CO
    6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL
9/28/09 - Salt Lake City, UT (11 years too long!!!)
    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
    9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2
  • I'm sure US tour dates will follow the European tour. He usually draws a bigger crowd overseas from what I'e heard so I don't blame him for starting out there. Unbelievable how underappreciated he is in the States. I have no doubt that this album will be a classic.
  • Hmmm the on-sales seem to be staggered across the week. Birmingham is on sale now, London tomorrorow, Glasgow on Thursday. I wouldn't mind a ticket for Leeds.
    2007 London
    2009 Manchester
    2010 Dublin / London
    2012 Manchester I & II / Berlin I & II / EV: Manchester
    2014 Amsterdam I & II / Vienna / Berlin / Leeds

I've noticed that, that he draws larger crowds overseas. Here's to hoping he schedules a good bit of dates for people to check him out here State-side.

    I hope so!

Love your avatar by the way. Big basketball fan myself but fed up with the NBA at the moment. I think I remember reading that Lanegan is a big Clippers fan...

I believe I read something similar about Lanegan being a big Clippers fan. He and Dulli have reportedly attended a number of games together.

As with the NBA, yeah... I'm a bit fed up myself at the moment. I just want to watch my Jazz play.

NIce one, and about time! As much as I have enjoyed his Gutter Twins/Soulsavers/Isobel Campbell stuff in the last few years, we needed a new solo record, and 7th March in Dublin looks like a fair bet!

Awesome news! Been waiting a long time for this album!
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)
  • Great news on both accounts. Here's hoping for a few more Trees songs to be added into the mix when the tour begins.
  • If he does another solo acoustic tour and adds the "new" Trees song, Reflections, to the setlist, I may just mess my pants.

I can't wait! :D I love his solo work. It'll be another great album.
    2012 will begin very well.
Let's say knowledge is a tree, yeah.
It's growing up just like me.
