First Psychedelic Experiences/Trips?

Watching Pearl Jam's recent performance of Pink Floyd's song 'Mother' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mPTZ-s2inY&NR=1 reminded me that on my first ever LSD trip I watched Pink Floyd's film 'The Wall', and David Lynch's movie 'Eraserhead' with a friend.

I pretty much laughed all the way through both films. I remember thinking Henry in Eraserhead was a great comedy character. I still need to watch that film again as I've not seen it since, and that was about 20 years ago.

What are other people's memories of their first trips?

  • I remember the first time I smoked, but not the ensuing experience. But soon after, I tried hash again, and I was at a party. The fucking Exorcist was on the tv. First time I'd seen it.

Even as a late teen, I always had a curfew, so I had to leave the party earlier than anyone else. It was a good 30 minute walk home (I didn't have a car at the time either-not that driving would have been a good option either).

I was walking home, and decided to cut through a schoolyard. Beside the school, seperated by a chain link fence was a house. I thought I saw something in the darkness: two people dragging two bodies into their side door.

I kept walking. A little faster pace, mind you.

A few minutes later, a fire hydrant turned into an evil monkey, climbed up a tree, and started hissing at me. A few steps later, a lion came out of nowhere. No harm was done, it just walked by.

I kept walking. Later on, a van stopped. This was completely real, by the way. It was full of a skinheads, I, a metalhead. I could see as they turned the interior light on. I stopped in my tracks. Stood there for what seemed an eternity. They finally drove off. I had about 20 minutes left of my walk.

About 5 minute later, saw that same van again. It seemed to be following me. It was turning down side streets and coming up the next, waiting as I walked by. They were obviously just fucking with me, but still, for a guy who just experienced the aforementioned trips, this was beyond freaky.

I finally got home and went straight to bed. That was a good 20 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Someone must have put something freaky in that hash. I have never experienced that kind of wacko-ness on hash again.

Listening to Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Are You Experienced" for the first time in 1967 was psychedelic... and I had never taken even so much as a toke on a joint at that point in my life. :)

I watched "Natural Born Killers" the first time I took LSD.

I had seen it once before, and didn't particularly care for it (I have no idea why). Upon seeing it while tripping, I saw the love story blended throughout the violent rampages. The visuals woven in, especially the droplets of blood falling into the river after Mickey and Mallory cut their hands on the bridge, are stunning.

It remained one of my favorite movies to watch while tripping.

i watched "The Big Lewbowski" and cryed laughing for the first two hours, then look my dog for a long walk outside, then did laps in my apartment, noticed how badly i needed to dust, gets blury for a few and took a hot shower and sat down in the dark for the last hour, slowly coming back to myself. Slept on and off for 20 horus the next day.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

My first mushroom trip,I lay between the speakers listening to Meddle.I decided to take my dog a walk up to the hills around the village.
I lay down on the hill to rest,it began spinning round and round as the stars were running towards me and away again.
The hill felt like a cloud bobbing around the sky, echoes playing in my head, the sky changed colours constantly

I woke and the dog was gone,I walked home to discover it was teatime the following day,I had been on the hill for over 12 hours

Never had an experience like it again with any other weed or mushrooms ... The mushrooms around here are good though, kids still travel miles to pick them :D
Sadly never heard Meddle as glorious as I did that night.

    Your trip sounded scary :?

This fascinates me. I was all but enraptured with almost everything I listened to while on LSD, mushrooms, or ecstasy.

It has proven to be a lasting effect. Music I didn't particularly like prior to, then listened to while on at least one psychedelic drug, still provokes a strong emotional response in me.

:D Stuff like this always tends to happen when you're tripping. As a perfect example, I was once with a friend who was tripping on acid, while I was sober, and as we were walking through a residential estate the smoke from someone's barbecue in their back garden rose up over the fence and looked just like a monster with eyes, nose, mouth, e.t.c. I looked at my friend and just laughed, telling him that I could see the same thing he was looking at.

Someone else told me how they were once at Glastonbury during the festival and had taken some micro-dots during the night. Still tripping in the morning as the sun was coming up, they'd walked over a hill a way off from the festival site and a knight in shining armour appeared over the hill on a horse.`

During my first trip we listened to the album 'Masters of the Universe' by Hawkwind.

I still regard it as the greatest LSD album out there. Check out the title track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvEtqGDFPA0

Wipe down all my furniture and knick knacks, they were dirty, also had to vacuum, all that stuff just really stood out. My dog sheds alot.

I went down to Marsden Grotto near Sunderland, before it caved in. I didn't do that with my cosmic death ray eyes though. It happened some time later. My trips weren't quite that powerful that I could cause landslides and subsidence with a single thought. The sea was breathing and lemons in dark glasses were flying spaceships over the water. I was always prone to visuals. 8-)
