I have read people saying stone sober it was like a psychedelic experience for them
It was like... I don't fuckin know... there are no words for it... it was thousands of people so deeply connected with 6 on stage
We were all in the same bubble
At the middle I turn to my wife and say "California could have slipped off into the ocean and no one HERE in the room would know until Eddie says GoodNight" that is fucking powerful
The wave crashing down on the crowd and the resurgence back to the band to see them get up and ride the surf just to have it all break again at our feet.... then be swept back out to sea... to have them point us back to the sand to feel the surf break on the crowd and the resurgence back to the band...

    There really just aren't anywords
I was at Bonnaroo 08 and Philly Night 2 and 3 and MSG10 nite 1

Hm... funny, that's one of my reasons why it WAS a great show! I felt the same after the Toronto night one show this year... We all have our favourite rarities - my favourite rare treat at a show is when I don't have to see Even Flow, and instead get treated to one of the countless songs I prefer from this band :D

i haven't been to a concert since, there's no point anymore
  • Huh. I'm going to have to listen to the boots again. I was at both MSG shows in 2010 and 2008 and for me 6/24/08 was my most mind-blowing experience. I'm not judging musically I'm just talking overall, the energy, the vibe. I guess so much depends on your particular circumstances. Every show is someone's best, and for every show that people rave about, there are detractors.

Those were the worst seats I've ever had (MSG 2010) which didn't help. I don't mind being on the sides but I was WAY in the back and it kinda sucked.
  • I am Definitely with you! I was there. I never miss an MSG show anymore... The energy of the Crowd, and the band are an amazing experience there... The night before was pretty Rad too!!

  • good post...i was thinking a lot about this show lately and the more i have been thinking about it, the more i realize just how awesome this show truely was. i've been to some really really sick shows over the years, some of which were past MSG shows, but this one just had something really special going on...much like the infamous 98' show (my second show ever). in fact, i somewhat recall thinking to myself that this show had a very 98'-esque vibe going on except their was no hanging from the mic during the alive solo and no breath campaign. great crowd, great setlist, great venue, the band sounded awesome and was totally on point and into it. just an all out, full on insane show....hunger strike? when hunger strike was played, the band, eddie, and ben bridwell totally nailed it. love jeff's baseline too. i thought that was a once in a lifetime occurance, but then alpine happened...

the boot has pretty much turned into one of my favorites.

Wasn't there, but one of my top 5 boots to listen to. The crowd that night was ridiculous...
  • no even the best msg show (or top 3)...

Amazing show! Best betterman ever hands down. Insane crowd. Definitely my favorite show from 2000 to the present. For me it was up there with Randalls night 2, penn state, and msg 9/11/98. Just a perfect nite. I even enjoyed Yellow Ledbetter.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......
  • this show and toronto first night sept 11th 2011 were perfection.

just bought and framed the elusive donkey kong poster from MSG2. :D
