going to see GNR tonight.. i hear

axl has been making fans wait 2 HOURS before going onstage.. what a douche.. could never imagine PJ pulling that shit.. which leads me to ask..is this curfew stuff BS? Axl is playing until 1-2am in the morning...maybe it is a negotiated thing??

    Saw the original band 5x back in the day and was thinking about finally checking out the new band at the izod in a few weeks than I saw these videos. :shock:

    Saw them last year in manchester uk, and yeah axl made us wait a while before coming on, but when they did, they(he) played a full 2 1/2 hour set, and was on top for, and his voice was really good, because i was worried beforehand, that it might be crap.

    so watching this clips makes me realise i was a bit lucky, he just sounds awful and out of key and struggling to breathe, oh know he may have been a bit ill that night :lol::lol:

    Saw them last year and didn't have any issue with him showing on time. I enjoyed it. I didn't go in with crazy expectations so that might have had a lot to do with it. I considered going tonight as well. Found good seats at $20/piece but decided against it. Enjoy it.

    Went Saturday night in Miami. Buckcherry 9-10pm. Axl walks on at midnight. Whatever....we were on the floor and the show rocked. Axl doesn't miss a beat in my opinion.

    No doubt he sounded really good in the videos I saw from last year.

    it sucks having so much info about him....ya...he's coming here soon and you correct...i just cant see giving him any $$$ no matter how great G n R was back in the day...and i dont care for the media either so it really sucks not knowing who to believe...either way..if 10% of its true what they say bout his dumb ass...there is no way i could give a dime to that...sorry...thats just the way i feel bout that....lol...

    Haha, wow. I watched a couple of those clips and Axl sounds awful. I was a huge Guns fan back in the day, but as soon as his giant ego took over the band, I lost interest. Adding back-up singers and a horn section was probably the last straw for me, as it completely changed the dynamic of the band's sound, turning them into a big, cheesy, bloated production. Chinese Democracy had a couple of decent tunes and wasn't quite the train wreck I thought it would be, and I'll give Axl credit for that. But this current incarnation of the band is pretty awful. Call it what you want, but it sure as hell ain't Guns N' Roses. At best it's nothing more than a glorified Gn'R cover band. If Axl had any balls whatsoever, he'd drop the band name and just become a solo artist. The guy is more than famous enough to use his own name and make a lot of money without having to cling to the "Guns N' Roses" moniker like a life preserver.

    I have tickets to see them in Cincinnati in December. I'm actually really excited about it. I've seen quite a few new videos of them on YouTube and for the most part it all sounds pretty good. Then again I'm one of the very few who thinks that Chinese Democracy is a really good album.

    Saw the new band in '06. They were awesome. Axl came out at midnight and played until 2:30am. If you can't party until 3am, stay home.

    My friend called about a reunion to go see them..
    I opted out and I know why...

    Seen the new GNR twice and they killed it both times, yeah he goes on late, but we all know that, so you can't whinge. But he does play for over 2 hours and his voice holds up well,and the songs are still the songs, so I hope you have a rad night!

    I have mixed feelings about Axl starting the shows late.

    Pro:

    My main pro argument, is that most of the concert's i've been to have a municipal imposed curfews of 11pm. Bands now plan there sets out in advance to have the shows wrapped about around 11pm. Since I became a fan of rock music in the 80s, rock music is supposed to be a little anti-establishment. So having every concert end around 11pm seems lame. The fact that AXL probably pays fines out his asshole for breaking noise curfews earns some of my respect.

    cons: I'm in my 30's now. If I'm going to a GNR show, I know i'm going to have a crappy day on 4 or 5 hours sleep. In other words I book the following day off.. lol


    I've seen guns n' replacements twice now. Both in Edmonton. I thought the '06 show was better than the (09?) show. I'd never seen AXL perform live, he did a decent job, sounded great etc... He did a duet with bubbles on stage singing liquor and whores! (which only the Canadians on this forum are going to understand). The show started around 12am and ended at 2:30am. Was pretty tired by the end, but it was worth it. To this date it is the latest arena show I have ever seen.

    '09 only went to about 1amish, as it started before 11pm. It seemed to be the same show, axl's voice wasn't as good. No bubbles. I probably shouldn't of gone a 2nd time.

    And all that being said, I was there in Vancouver in '02 when some people rioted and smashed the windows. It baffles me why promoters/venues would book a concert they know axl will show up late to. The venue cancelled that show because he hadn't arrived yet. Axl didn't cancel it. The venue did because they knew it wasn't going to end by 11pm. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the pacific coliseum show this year. Unless there's a gnr reunion, i think i'm content not going to the guns n replacement shows anymore.

    I had considered going to see GNR but ultimately decided not to. Wish I had seen them when Slash was still in the band!

    Wow that was awful....beyond awful. I made it 30 seconds and had to turn it off
    All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
