    Happy honeymooning!

I drove out west from Chicago years ago. I hit the west coast in San Francisco. I went to Alcatraz while I was there, and that was awesome. I then drove North on Highway 1 along the coast up to Portland. Portland was pretty cool, didn't do much but hang around town, but it was cool. Anyway the whole reason I'm replying to your thread was to tell you that if you have the time, the drive on Highway 1 is one of the coolest things I've ever done. I stayed in some surf town one night, and it was really cool to just go to the local bars and enjoy the difference in culture. The drive winds in and out of the coast and through the redwoods. Absolutely beautiful, and worth every minute it takes to make this slow winding drive.

Have a great time, and good luck exploring.

    I love the 5 point cafe: http://the5pointcafe.com/About.php
just a few blocks down the street from the EMP-def go there, the Nirvana exhibit is not to be missed.

Easy Street on Queen Anne is close to the Seattle Center, and if you want a good coffee go to Cafe Ladro: http://www.caffeladro.com/ they are a block down the hill from Easy Street.

Love me some Dick's : http://www.ddir.com/ or if you like pizza: http://www.pagliacci.com/index.shtml

Pike Place market-just go to watch them throw fish, from there, you can see the Showbox (PJ has played there), and if you like 'proper' museums, the Seattle Art Museum is close by.

If you like quirky, go see the Fremont Troll: http://www.fremont.com/fremonttroll.html
Fremont is a really interesting place...check out the website.

I don't have any Portland recommendations, I usually hit up Cannon Beach on the coast. We tried finding VooDoo Dounuts, but got lost. The Farmers Market was really cool.

If you have time, make a stop in Monterey, hit up RYEzupSF (here on the boards) for more info on SanFran.

    Have Fun!

    True about the money.

I also recommend renting segways. Not a tour, but a private rental. I got a guy, Charlie, who rents them from the beach. It is a lot of fun. If you are in topwn this weekend there is the Rip Curl Pro Am surf contest at Ocean Beach and all the big name surfers are here. Pretty awesome.

Please feel free to PM me if you are looking for anything in particular. Have a great trip!!
