I wonder if Flaming Lips fans will petition for more song skulls once they sell out?

  • I love the Flaming Lips but at this point they're just trying to do really weird shit. I was listening to Yoshimi yesterday and I though to myself "this sounds like regular normal music compared to what they've been doing lately". I guess what I'm saying is, just make a new album.

    Have you heard Zaireeka?

  • Yeah I have. I've been fans of these guys since the Trasmissions album (thanks to She Don't Use Jelly, like many people). I'm fully aware that they've always been "out there" but maybe it's just from now following Wayne on Twitter and shit like that that they're just trying to "out do" themselves now a days rather than just make some cool tunes.

I gave the song a go, listened to it for about 1/2 hr, then went back to it a few hours later... kinda the same shit...
there's an explanation from Wayne somewhere about the song (obviously), it's named after some Apple App's sound effect or something, I also read somewhere that the skulls are real human skulls... wtf?

Yoshimi is a great album, and yes it's "out there" enough, this 24 hr song is just them seeing who will have a listen, to get attention... They must be having one massive laugh at the whole thing, unless of course they are taking it seriously, which is kinda disturbing...

The song actually sounds like it's automatically generated at times... instruments don't fit together... definitely needs a good edit, but who has the time??

listened to this for awhile today, what i heard was not super interesting to me. no lyrics. i'd like to hear like 1000 verses.

the way they are selling it is about the weirdest thing i have ever heard of. i'm kind of surprised that it's, you know, legal, to sell human skulls.

Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
