What's the story with "Falling Down"?

So... I've been listening to this song for a while.. back in the days of Napster when I illegally downloaded the bootlegged version.

On this site it's a "Improv".

If thats true then I'm to assume that it was written/improved by PJ themselves?? (Correct?)

If that's so.. then my goodness... add this to the list of reasons Pearl Jam are spectacular. To have something like this as a 'one off' if you will... is just amazing. Such an excellent song that would be a key feature on any album... just incredible.

And a BIG thank you to PJ and the 10C and to whoever is responsible for cleaning it up and releasing it as the single.

Fuckin' amazing.

    "Distress"

I think you'll really dig it man. The whole LP is fucking SOLID. Mikey is shredding all over the place on it.

it is a VERY good record, but imo, that's one of the weaker tracks on there

Mmm. Well, it certainly doesn't blow the amps past 11, but a beautiful tune that fits nicely amongst some face melting songs. Love Carrie Akre's voice.

Wow I didn't know it became a Mike/ Rockford's song... Haven't heard them at all...

Always loved this track as the improvisation, had a shit quality version for years, glad they released the clearer version.. (can actually understand the vocals..)

I had a guitar tab of this on my website, but when geocities died, so did my website.. I'm sure it's available though. If not I can find the internet archived txt file from my website (I found it the other month when I got the song...) sing out...

That's because it's NOT an improvisation. The guide is wrong.

Totally agree, it's an amazing song and I can't believe they've only ever played it once, it's one of the best lost dogs for me and I wish it'd made the album!

I think it may have been recorded at some point. If you look at the Lost Dogs CD case, the title is listed in one of the pictures of the master tapes.

Does anyone else think that this song fits in with the Mamason triliogy lyrically? To me it sounds like a continuation or (or maybe a prequel to) Alive.

    Thoughts?

Although super unlikely, It would be super badass if it ended up on the next record.

Too many tight changes to really be an "improv"... listen to the rest of the improvs they have... they usually revolve around one chord.
