I am a huge Nick Cave fan, but I'm sorry to say that I don't like this new album of his very much at all. It's quite boring for me. :frowning:

That's what's wonderful about music tho isn't it. What resonates with one person doesn't always with another. It's what brings us together as music fans. I prefer this album to push the sky away. He always seems to develop as a song writer and push himself. I love that. The way in which he has turned tragedy into something beautiful struck me. The loss of a loved one (child) hangs heavy over the whole work and speaks to me personally. I wish I could have been so eloquent.

Indeed, different strokes for different folks.
I did think about the death of his son and how that effected his song writing in this album, although my perspective was that it impeded him (very understandably to the say the least) rather than helped the artistic process, or how much of his soul went into it, or the final result. Obviously none of us know how that awful event affected his music... but since it's the first Nick Cave album I've ever not enjoyed, my mind immediately went to the "his grief may have hurt his music" theory. Obviously that theory is absolute shit to anyone who likes the album. ;)
