The version of Release in the PJ20 movie was incredible. By far one of my favorite parts of the film.

has to do with alot of reason..no drinking ..
first is GA..people gets the energy from the people next to them.you are with alot of friends around, not just one..and you feel more confortable to express ypour self..
for sure people ages at pj show is lower at Europe and even more at SA than USA..
Another reason has to do with how often you can see pj..here alot feel that maybe is the last time im gonna see them, cos maybe they never comes back to your country..and for sure after seeing pj in so many Europe countries, South Europe fans are more nuts...
and in the end..ill tell you how i feel about the whole..saw pj 21 times..once in my country..20 times out of Greece..how do think is my psychology when i see the boys go on stage?
i can listen their music and relax at my couch...but when i travel fromt he other side of the planet only for see a 2.5 hours show..i just let go out all my feelings their music provoke me..
i just let it out man...and i know..sometimes people think im crazy..like those people around me at seated area during Deep at Alpine 1..
and in the end...you are in a Rock Concert...how the hell the show ends and you didnt get sweat?
isnt Sunday Church..its PJ on Stage.

When I saw the thread topic I was thinking in my head my favorite was the Kansas City 2003 one with the rain and thunder and "Hi Dad". Wish I could have been there.

I'd have to say MY best version would be PJ20 weekend. And I only say this because this is the first song I have ever heard live that the band played. But then again I can almost assume that there are others out there that are better.

Just like it'll be if PJ plays Alaska. May be USA, but almost sort of isn't. Especially since a lot of people would be traveling quite a ways.

that was best version for me too, first time I heard it live in person, and after all the build up for that weekend and meeting everyone it was just an amazing moment. My girlfriend still mentions that as being one of the best concert moments ever

The best thing about the PJ20 version was hearing the crowd sing along..that was so loud it was awesome. It really comes through on the unofficial boots and youtube videos. It gave me chills the first time I relistened to it.

so i wonder... are they jumping around to join in the party... or is it a love for PJ

anyway... i will do some listening and get back to you on my favorite release :)

Would love to hear Release live - that opening would set me up for the whole show.

Something I would add about European Pearl Jam crowds - I think it's a lot harder to be a PJ fan in Europe - certainly in England, you rarely hear them on the radio any more, it's very rare to bump into another PJ fan in everyday life - to stay following the band takes a bit of dedication, and that dedication breeds passion. When you go to a European concert my hunch is there won't be many in the crowd who have just turned up on a whim, who know Last Kiss and Alive and just want a night out - no, you will have a crowd of pretty dedicated Pearl Jam followers who are ready to go nuts for one of their few chances to see the band live!

The Release from PJ20 definitely stands out in my mind. When I listen to it or watch it I still get goosebumps and/or a little misty eyed. The anticipation paired with the rain. The intensity of the crowd coupled with the sheer emotion that engulfed both the band and its fans. Good stuff. Great memories.

Really hard to choose just one from the many I've heard?

    Tokyo 03
    Kansas 03
    Atlanta 94
    Lisbon 10
    Melbourne 98
    London 09
    Arnhem 06
    Chicago 00
Santiago 05 even though Ed flubs.

OK, Atlanta 94. I listened to the live broadcast which BBC Radio 1 did and the excitement has never left me. I had no idea they even opened with slower songs back then due to lack of internet. It is my most sought after opener after my favourite PJ song, Sometimes and I hope to hear it next year in Scotland.... :D

    PLEASE PLAY SCOTLAND 2012.....

I'm biased and I will have to say from PJ20 is the best. I won the lottery and my buddy and I were 9th row, front and center. I had been calling Release as the opener for months before the show and my buddy and I were going back and forth the night before the show about what we thought the opener would be. Then da boys came out and took the stage and then the opening notes ripped through the air, Ed setting his wine bottle down and staggering back from the mic looking into the crowd and getting all emotional, then putting his hands in the air and looking into the sky was the icing on the cake for me. I think at that point my mind was already blown and I had shit a brick and almost cried at the same time.
