Unusual weather

Just out of curiosity, I've been tracking our local weather for the last three months. In that time we've had a couple of days with day and night time temps at the normal average and a couple below the normal average and all of the rest have been above average. I missed a few days but it comes to something like 84 or 85 days out of 90 above average. The forecast for the next 10 days: temps all above average. Many locals have commented that we've had a mild summer here this year. That's because we have had few of the normal heat spikes that this area gets in the summer. I think they would be surprised by what the statistics tell about our "mild" summer!

I'm the first one to avoid drawing conclusions about local weather because, as I've pointed out frequently, local weather does not equal overall global conditions. (I know we've played semantics wwith this one, but hopefully you get what I mean.) In other words, my conclusions about global climate change do not come from local observable statistics.

Still, this above local warmer-than-normal trend has me wondering, is anything unusual happpening in your neck of the woods weatherwise?

Midwest weather has been pretty much normal over the last several years. The last winter hung around a little longer then usual (short spring) and there was a strong storm season, but nothing I would consider unusual.

Right now, it feels like football weather, or as I like to call it, hitting weather.

The past summer was the second hottest on record overall, with extremes in either precipitation or drought. If you are in Norcal, you were probably cooler than normal, like we were in the Northwest. Most everyone else were stewing in their own juices.
