Bootleg question

Recently a friend sent me an mp3 of what she said was a never released pearl jam song,I was skeptical but when I heard it she was right. I think it's called "Just A Girl", and from what I've seen on the site here it's only ever been played live twice, but the version I was given definitely sounded like a studio recording, only maybe from a 2nd or 3rd generation cassette tape.

First question I should ask is, should delete this? I don't want to get intotrouble over it, not sure how the band/label feel about it.

Second question would be, why has it only been played twice live in their entire career, in 90 and 91, and never again. It's a good song.

And lastly, will it ever see a legitimate release? I was kind of dissapointed that Lost Dogs didn't have the b-side version of Alone, that Brother (i thinkthat's the one) was without lyrics, and now this song. Will we ever see another rarities collection with material like this?

Oh well, thanks for any info (and ethical advice) you can provide.

  • I would delete it simply because there's a CD quality version out there that is more worth seeking. I don't think we're allowed to talk about it here though.

b-sides, anything in between.. here you'll find both brother and girl in good quality sounding, and other interesting things..
  • Hmm, as much of a fan as I am, I think I'll keep my nose out of that stuff if it's not meant to be heard. It feels a bit too personal, like reading someone's diary without permission. Don't think I wanna disrespect Ed like that. I'll leave him alone up in his tree.

Thanks for the info tho, still makes me wonder why it hasn't been performed in over a decade and a half tho, but oh well, I'll leave it at that, lest the thread get locked.
