while having lunch today i added sugar to my hot tea. on the back of each sugar packet is a message from Domino sugar company for all their consumers to read and be in awe of their love for this planet. what a bunch of asshole these people are with blowing smoke up all our asses. processed sugar is a damn joke anyways. i go out of my way to purchase raw sugar. i have never known a single one of my friends or family members to purchase sugar in the raw. matter of fact, the first time i ever even saw raw sugar was when i was in Canada.

processed sugar is for the birds. i get pissed when i use white sugar. and now they want us all to think they are amazing and so earth friendly. if this company conserves about 3.5 million cubic yards of landfill space annually, how much space do they actually use annually? and why the fuck do we need our sugar (processed) white? i do not understand. again, i am a dumb american getting shit shoved down my throat. i am kinda tired of it actually.

I prefer to use honey to sweeten things, raw honey is good, manuka honey, etc..i love honey :D I even put it on cuts and burns as it tends to work better than most things.

Otherwise sugar in the raw is nice, i also avoid white sugar, oh and of course HFCS.

In the US they put HFCS in just about everything, ive even seen it in cough drops, cough syrup. It's just sooo bonkers,

I love our local honey- and am glad we can still get it! :)

The one I avoid the most is corn syrup, the worst form of sugar- it' made from Frankenstein GMO "corn". Basically a chemical sweetner. YUK!

The worst ingredient has to be anything made with corn syrup. It has become Americas new secret sweetner and it has become very addictive.

If it's white it's been bleached like white sugar white rice etc. Better to use honey, brown rice, brown sugar, or better yet black rice.

HFCS is awful. The best argument against it in my opinion is this: go to the grocery store and buy a Coke and then find a store that sells Coke imported from Mexico. The Mexican Coke is 1,000,000X better. (This example only works if you live in a country where Coke uses HFCS). It boggles my mind that Coke sells an inferior product in its own country. At least nobody gets beheaded for selling this kind of Mexican Coke.

At one time, sugar was the most subsidized crop in the U.S......wonder if that is still true or has corn garnered the top spot now?

I tried a Coke last week and I tried a Pepsi last night and neither one of them taste like it did 25 years ago. They tasted like syrup...It is amazing how many things are made or have HFCS added to it. Just take the time and read the ingredients on any package you buy.

As to what you said...many do not read the ingredients and that's why they corporations can get by using these inferior additives....better for them it's extremely CHEAP!

I love honey. I avoid HFCS and processed sugar. I try to use sugar in the raw, though I've heard it's just regular sugar with molasses added for coloring. That said, I believe the scientific community is mixed as to the effect of HFCS versus raw sugar:

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/high-f ... up/AN01588

On the flip side, an interesting read on a princeton study that found rats got much fatter off HFCS than sugar:

But hey, it's all moot when you have a deep love for craft beer!

HFCS is bad, no debate about that. But no doubt too much of even raw sugar is not healthy. But that's just like obvious no? The HFCS people also tend to push that line of thinking in an effort to show that HFCS is not the only bad sugar, "Hey it all will kill you anyway, rather save money in the process, buy HFCS" But what they forget to add is that HFCS is one of the major causes of the growing diabetes rates.

Also due (in large part) to the insulin in the HFCS, Now I don't know if they still use insulin to break down the sugars when they make HFCS, but they were doing it at one point. So in reality when people were drinking cokes, we were also pounding down insulin. So every day a kid pops a couple pops, they are also taking in whatever amounts of insulin. So it confuses the body, the body reacts, and what we have seen as an end result is...diabetes.

Hey made with real cane sugar :P Are they still making these? I know that commercial is a few years old now,

Is coke really any better with sugar? I tried the Throwback Pepsi with sugar in it and it was so damn sweet it made my teeth hurt. Then again if I am drinking a coke I think the best sweetner for it is probably rum.

I like the Pepsi Throwback, but Mexican Coke is much better. The Pepsi Throwback doesn't use cane sugar. They get the sugar from beets or some other vegetable. The Coke from Mexico is cane sugar, plus Coke isn't as sweet as Pepsi to begin with so it all adds up to deliciousness.

Big Gulp ban? NYC to ban large drinks

    http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-News-Wires/2012/0531/Big-Gulp-ban-NYC-to-ban-large-drinks

Mayor Bloomberg wants a 16-ounce limit on the size of sugary drinks sold in New York City. The big soda ban would apply to drinks that contain more than 25 calories per 8 ounces. Diet soda would be exempt.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is proposing a ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks in the city's restaurants, delis and movie theaters in the hopes of combating obesity — an expansion of his administration's efforts to encourage healthy behavior by limiting residents' choices

I really like sucanat which is a much less refined version of sugar in the raw. And you can get it in the bulk bins at Whole Foods for very little money (BTW, I am addicted to the bulk bins there!) Although raw honey is my favorite!
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

And soda makes me thirsty (I haven't drank it in years for this reason). There's got to be something wrong with a drink when it actually makes you thirsty rather than quench your thirst.
