I just stumbled across a link to the new Eric Clapton series amps from Fender. I've been thinking about upgrading from my Hot Rod Deluxe to a '57 Deluxe (started saving up the $). I am very intrigued by the EC Tremolux. What are your thoughts on the Tremolux and the other EC series amps?

  • Well in my opinion the speaker seems odd for a 5E3 circuit. But I'm probably more traditional. But all three are interesting. Cool side note Ted Weber speaker in the Champ, and a Weber designed speaker on the Twinolux

They seem like quality products, but I wonder how much you're paying for the 'Eric Clapton' name?

I was curious about that too. I checked on Sweetwater.com and the EC Tremolux is the same price as the '57 Deluxe and the EC Vibro Champ is the same price as the '57 Champ. Granted, they are not available yet. So, I assume the price could go up when they are actually available.

  • Call me crazy, but I just pre-ordered the Fender EC Tremolux amp. Cannot wait to play it, but I'll have to wait until mid November or so.

Here's a demo from Premiere Guitar mag.

  • I really love Fender amps and own a few old ones as well as aVibroKing. If I were to get a "Clapton" amp, I'd look at a Dennis Cornell Custom 40 or 80 - it's what Eric's been using onstage for years. I've owned Cornell amps for years now and they are amongst the best I've ever heard and the build quality is second to none (he worked on the old Mil-Spec HiWatts with Dave Reeves etc). I guess I'm a Cornell "Artist" (he gives me artist rates on his gear), but his amps are incredible!!!

  • I received the Tremolux this past week and have to say I absolutely love it. It's a nice step up tone-wise from my previous Hot Rod Deluxe amp. To be honest though, I could do without the built-in tremolo and would be happy with a 57 deluxe amp. However, I guess it's a nice little addition. This amp is great for my purposes...hobbyist playing at home. I can dial in great tones at volumes that work at home. Sounds great and I don't think I'll need a new amp for a long long time (although I kind of want to add a Marshall to the family now).
