This belongs under "Computer Illiteracy 101"!

I want to copy a doument (66 pages of text) from my Dell laptop to a CD. I'm not sure how to do that. I tried copying on to a new disc that says "Magnavox CD-R 52X 700 MB" with no luck. It's either the wrong kind of disc or I didn't follow proper proceedure.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

First, you need to make sure that your CD drive also has the ability to "burn" disks. If so, you need to use a burnner program like Nero to place the files to the CD. The CD itself should be fine.

If all else fails, try uploading it to a disk on key if you have one or to your e-mail as a draft.

Thanks, rafie. Is there a difference between "recordable" cds and "writable" cds? Mine say "recordable"-- maybe the wrong kind?

You need any disk that says CD-R on it. That means recordable (after burning the CD you can not make any changes to it). If it says CD-RW, that means re-writable (you can erase the disk and burn it again numerous times) - These are usually a lot more expensive.
