Kindling and bayleaves and pine cones
I'm collecting them in my mind
to make the fire smell better than average
and better than dull
and I'm sorry I can't give dull people an imagination
well, actually, I'm not sorry
I'm glad I can't
it makes people individuals
and some people can't imagine their way out of a paperbag
and that's not my problem
I'm glad it's not my problem
I don't wanna have to worry about anyone else's happiness these days
only my own
(and my family's)
carry a jug of water on my head like a pottery hat?
no problem
turn over every leaf to find something good?
I'm learning
read every last book I can find on my favorite study topic?
you know I am

I've found my kindling, I have some logs, and I picked up those other items for scent
I think I'm set cuz I always carry a match!

I'm a little iffy on the word "cuz" but hey, that's nit-picking because this is one very fine piece of poetry! It brings the senses alive. It's poem I can touch, smell, and feel and it also gets into my head. Nicely done!

  • I like the analogy of gathering to gathering thoughts. Nice.
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key
