also I find this fact above real fascinating. like they could have played the triology in those shows but chose not to. weird. but cool. makes the "triology" that much more special!

OK, I've got to ask about this "Philly Fuck Count" you compiled.

You listed "MFC" as having one added but not having it written in the lyrics. Is that because it doesn't appear in the lyric sheet that came with the album? Because there's definitely a "fuck" near the end of the song on the studio version.

They didn't play Nothingman during the 2000 show. In Ontario the trilogy was only played in Barrie 98 and Toronto 2011. Kitchener had all three songs, but does it count as a trilogy if they aren't played back-to-back?

funny story regarding the "man trilogy"...so i am a stat freak and my friends call me the "database". My friends ask me what show did they play this? and I can tell them even if i wasn't at the show. (i am that guy in my group) so i won the lottery in toronto 11 this year...so i was so into the show and freaking out first row i didn't even realize they did the man trilogy first encore. I run over to my friend after the show and start yelling "holy fuck...nothing as it seems! Chole Dancer/Crown!!...Uncle Neil!!! Holy Fuck what a show!! and my friend just looks at me..."ha yeah Man Trilogy too" I just looked at him for like 5 seconds and thought about it and went "oh shiiiit first encore" and we both started laughing...i somehow didn't realize, you think when they played leatherman it would have alt least crossed my mind...great show...great trilogy!

Played all three (although not together) in Manchester, UK in 2000. Ed makes reference to the fact they've already played the other two that night before starting Leatherman.

when i used to make my own setlists for fun, i'd quite often have that as a six song encore, and it would be awsome if they ever did it for real

Even though I won't be there, I'd love to experience the Pentalogy (including PJ's Holy Trinity) through the boot! Here's my recommendation for Seattle 2018:

    1) Leatherman :rock_on:
    2) Better Man
    3) Nothingman
    4) Dead Man
    5) Man of the Hour

In Prague 06 , Ed introduced the first 4 as a song about a man in Czech and then Betterman as a song about a woman in Czech... As far as I remember anyway...!
I was also lucky enough to see the trio at MSG 2 in 2016! Love Leatherman....

(edited as per comments later in thread)

Leatherman/Betterman/Nothingman played as trilogy: 3-songs in a row: 17 times
    (SD 98, ONT98, NJ98, SW00, GA00, FL00, NY00, IL00, CA00, WA00, JAP03, NC03, MI03, MA03, PA05, CZ06, ONT11)

Leatherman/Betterman/Nothingman played as 3-songs in a show (not together): 9 times
    (AU98, WI98, NV98, NY98, OH00, MA00, OR00, ONT05, NS05)

What follows may be irrelevant, but of interest to fans of Leatherman:

Leatherman played with only Betterman: back-to-back: 10 times
    MN98, OR98, MD98, FL98, ENG00, WALES00, GER00, NC00, IN00, PA00

Leatherman played with Betterman: in show not back-to-back: 11 times
    (AZ98, WA98(x2), OH98, AL98, VA98, TN00, ONT00, BRA05, AU06(x2))

Leatherman played with Nothingman: back-to-back: 0 times

Leatherman played with Nothingman: in show not back-to-back: 3 times
    (NJ05, POL07, WI11)

Leatherman played by itself: 8 times
    (WA98(x2), POL00, AT00, AU03, MI06, NJ06, NJ10)
because of this I just bumped your philly f... thread.  it needs to be updated :)
