Where the hell do I buy a turntable these days?

I'm not talking about the crap ones that are used primarily for converting vinyl to bad sounding mp3s...

I'm looking a good sounding turntable that wont break the bank, if it does a good job with converting to mp3 too... well, that'd be a bonus.

Have any used record shops around?.. you could even try Craigslist and find a good used one... plenty of places online, you can even get one through Amazon.

I'd check around local record shops as well. If you can't find any, there's a ton of places online that you can still buy from. Anything name brand. As far as mp3 conversion, I have a standalone cd burner. I just run my turntable into my receiver and then dub it to the recorder. That way you have a pretty good sound and then you can take it into iTunes or whatever you use to convert it to mp3. But at least that way you always have a "master" cd.

I have a Audio Technica Lp 120 google it. It's a great turntable for the money and has a USB for vinyl to mp3 conversion. Includes all the cables too. I also have a pro ject debut III, it's a great turntable also but you'll need to buy the preamplifier Called phono box II to do the conversion. I'd stick with the AT LP 120 for the value
    Hope this helps

Thanks, I came upon this model in my searches and it is at the top of my list for now.
Although, I am still trying to figure out if I want the LP120 direct drive or the lp60 belt drive.

The lp120 certainly looks much cooler, but I am reading that there is less vibration picked up in the belt drive tables. Plus the lp60 is $70 vs the lp120 @ $230...

Anyone else have any input on this? In the mean time, I'll keep on researching.

Does anyone have an opinion about Audio-Technica LP120USB vs LP60USB.

I know, what the differences are, but can someone make a case for both?

I am never going to be using it for DJ purposes, so I am wondering just from a pure listeners perspective.

I like the automatic features of the LP60, but I like the pro features of the LP120.
It is likely at some point, that I could leave the room and have a record spinning at the end for a while. How bad is it for the vinyl or the stylus?

I appreciate all of the input so far!

    Spin the WHITE circle!
