New album (digital only) released via Bandcamp. "Sunshine." 7 bucks US. And it's amazing. The guy's voice is something else. He might be doing a headlining show in Belgium and/or Holland in November. Bring it on!

You should! 7 bux! His old solo albums are there too if you don't have hard copies of those. His solo albums are better than most of the Brad, Satchel and Pigeonhed ones, in my opinion.

Really?? I just need to eventually get everything Shawn Smith. Have all 4 Brad albums, and the Satchel album, "the family." Eventually I plan of diving into pigeon head, and his solo stuff. Seems like Shawn never stops man! 8-) A new solo disc to surprise us with, and then, we may have a new Brad record next year. yeahhhh! Really wish I had gotten to see Brad last year, on the Brad/ Band of Horses tour last year. Shawn's voice is amazing, and I cannot think this board enough, for getting me started on Brad. :P

If I were you, I'd get his solo album Shield of Thorns next. All his music is so different.
Phed is VERY ELECTRONIC. I'm not a huge fan of the Pigeonhed stuff, but I'm not a huge fan of electronic music, either. Just be warned.
EDC, Satchel's first album, is almost a heavy metal album. It's 'conceptual' in that some of the songs are named after Reservoir Dogs characters, and spoken parts from the movie are scattered in between tracks. It is good. The Family is my favourite Satchel album though. The latest one, Heartache and Honey, is good too.
The Brad albums are all amazing, with the exception of Welcome to Discovery Park. I dunno if it's the songs or the flat production, but it just sounds pedestrian to me.
As for Shawn solo: get Sunshine, then Sheild of Thorns, then The Diamond Hand, then the first one, Let It All Begin, in that order. The live album is pretty great, too, just Shawn on piano and acoustic, get that whenever you fancy! That's my advice on Mr. Smith! :D

  • New EP at bandcamp. All tracks taken from a 2007 session featuring Stone Gossard, for you PJ heads out there. It's called the CEDARWOOD EP. 7 tracks, all great, for 6 bucks or so. I think the site is shawnsmith.bandcamp.com
