They only had the full cast together for 2 days and about half of the episodes use green screens to put them together. Maybe it won't be noticeable, or affect the episodes, but it makes me a bit nervous. And just kind of makes it seem like not everybody is into it if they couldn't even get together for more than 2 days.

this is sad news. Now I'm really curious how it all turns out.
Still stoked for Sunday though!

Just finished episode 9. I agree about the first 3 episodes being shaky but even they had their good bits and I've really enjoyed everything else so far. I think this is going to be a really fun season to rewatch.

Anyways, I think it was incredible season. Seems like they did the oppisite of what most shows would do. Most shows would go for the easy laughs and phone it in. Why wouldnt they? They have a rabid and huge fanbase. Instead it feels like season 4 ramped up the complexity and layering of the jokes.
I guess I just didn't have the same feelings that most have about this new season. I'm a rabid fan of this show, and actually could not sleep the night before I was so excited. I ended up having to wait until late afternoon when the rest of my family and some friends could come over and watch. Our family is crazy about AD. We quote crap all the time...work it into our daily lives...I mean we're pretty much just nuts. It just seemed like this new series was really rough. Where as seasons prior, we'd actually have to pause in order to regain our composure from laughing so hard, this season had a few chuckles but not much else. For me it just didn't have that spark.

Ok good, because I've watched the first two so far and I was like, huh?
Also, on one of those late night interview shows, Portia de Rossi said they can be viewed in any order, and that it changes the story slightly depending on which you watch first. I'm going in order because that's what I do, I think it's a mild OCD thing

I agree. As I said, its less on the floor laughing and more complex this season. Which I think is a real achievement. The attention to detail is insane. As always the jokes are multi-layered and only reveal their genius upon further viewing. Lucille's inmate number. What Siri calls Gob. The absurdity of Michael discussing privacy while in that car. The scrolls on the newscasts and the closed captioning during it. The posters and artwork on the walls during scenes.
The show essentially did what pretty much no other show would do after a 7 year break. What would most shows and writers do to a show like AD? I think its pretty obvious they wouldnt have done what we got in these 15 episodes. A highly complex and interweaving storyline, where each episode is a piece of the puzzle and it all comes together.
One of the main reasons people love AD is its highly intellectual. The jokes arent cheap. I didnt feel like the jokes were less intellectual in season 4.
In fact, i'd argue instead of going the way of most shows in similar situations, the writers made it MORE intellectual and complex.
Finished the season today. Overall, I really liked it. For those watching, don't forget to catch the scene after the credits of the final episode.
I don't think everything this season worked, but there were more hits than misses for me. I think the writers took a big risk, and it usually paid off. Maybe the season or some episodes could have been shorter, as it did sometimes drag, but nothing's perfect. Even though this season was obviously very different from the first three, it still felt like Arrested Development to me, especially once it found its way a few episodes in. Lots of laughs, chuckles, and smiles for me while watching. There were so many good things in there...loved the callbacks to the earlier seasons (they never felt forced to me) and the new jokes and gags that were developed for this season. Looking forward to rewatching it.
The creator has said this is act 1 of 3 of a greater Bluth story.. When are we supposed to find out if we're getting acts 2 and 3???

Yeah, watching in order is the way to go. Actually, the creator said on the internet to ignore what Portia said because the eps need to be watched in order. Originally, they were going to be edited as a "choose your own adventure" type thing, but he realized that the jokes and gags that span multiple episodes wouldn't work if viewed out of order.

I would hope the creator is somewhat confident there will be more. I will never hear this song without thinking of Arrested Development. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaSFzp6IDgw

Through episode 8 so far, and I'm starting to enjoy how all the episodes and story arcs tie into each other. I'm sure I'm going to have to rewatch it for stuff I missed.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
So I just binge watched this entire show on Netflix.
Coming fresh off the first 3 seasons, the first few episodes of the 4th season really threw me. I dunno what the deal was there, but I think by the Lucille episode things sort of fell back into rhythm and I really enjoyed it. Really liked the storyline with Maeby, really liked George Michael/Maharis' story as well. I think I might've preferred less Tobias and more Gob. But overall it went really well. I loved Michael being so displaced and the whole 'Phoenix' thing.
Overall, awesome show. I get it. I hope they do another Netflix season but with maybe a greater commitment from the actors and better sound equipment. There were a few times I noticed with David Cross where he must have had to re-dub his lines and it was just really obvious.
But I loved how everything came together and watching the portions of scene from the different character pov's.

Eddie Vedder- 7/16/11
Brad- 4/21/12 (RSD Performance), 4/27/12, 8/10/12
Flight To Mars- 5/23/12
RNDM- 11/27/12
PEARL JAM- 12/6/13 I have finally seen Pearl Jam live!
Hopefully it's not the end.
I would hope the creator is somewhat confident there will be more. I will never hear this song without thinking of Arrested Development.
