i love it when people get pissed at the banks for doing what they are legally allowed to in order to replace profits that the government was directly trying to affect. what a crazy idea, that banks would impose other fees to make up for the billions they are about to lose...Jesus our politicians are short-sided. Do any have the slightest clue when it comes to economics and business...did they think the banks would take the losses lying down?

Don't use banks that charge "unfair" fees, then. The market will bear what it will bear.

Who's mad a banks for charging fees on debit cards? They are a service... why should they offer that service for free?
What was needed was the reform that told you in plain English... printed on your monthly statement... what exactly you would be paying... and for how long you would be paying... if you paid the minimum on the balance. Banks made BANK on the fact thay many people would pay the monthly minimum.
    ...
If you don't like the fees... don't use a debit card.
