Easily one of the bands on the Big Day Out lineup in australia that i'm looking forward to seeing, only got into them recently but loving what i'm hearing!
  • saw them opening for QOTSA when no one (including myself) knew who the hell they were. I love this band. I had to eat my ticket for them and the black keys though for Ed solo!

  • I like Cage The Elephant. Don't yet crazy-love them...but I like them. They are young...but have potential.

One of a handful of young bands that I'm watching.

Y'know... I listened to them off and on for a while, then I saw them open up for Florence + the Machine and The Black Keys in Milwaukee this summer - and again for the Foo Fighters here in Phoenix.

Any chance I get to see Cage the Elephant live, I'm going.

Very rare to see bands (especially frontmen) these days put themselves so far out there that they just might die while performing. Very intense, absolutely incredible energy.

    I'm a fan.

i dont know their music tho i did hear a song of theirs on triple j recently. im seeing them next month based solely on the fact that i love their name. its a small basement venue and im staking my music rep on them so...

im hoping not to hear any more than that one song(which i cant really remember anyway) before i see them. that way theres no expectation.. except for a cocktail this particular venue has that im busting to try. 8-)

never seen them live, but when i was watching the broadcast of Lollapallooza this year they seemed to be full of energy. They seem more of a "live" act then studio band. I still can;t get into their music though.

saw them open for the foos a few times. mostly enjoyed their performances, and the singer's absolutely nuts..in a nice, crowd-jumping way. :)

if anyones picked up the blu ray and is able to figure out if its locked to region A or not, could you please post here and let me know....would like to get it but it doesnt appear to be getting a release in Australia.
  • Here's a cool story:

I took my 14 year old son to the Foos when Cage opened for them. We were on the floor and the sound guy gave my kid the setlist w/ all his notes on it!

During the Foo's encore, Grohl acknowledged Cage who were standing right behind us (we were right against the rail by the 'second' stage). My buddy grabbed my kid's setlist and this woman's sharpie and the band signed it for him!

Further... the sound guy for the Foos then handed my kid a folded paper and told him, "Not to open it until the show was over!" It was the Foos setlist!

THEN... the equip guy tossed out the remaining picks on Grohl's mic stand- saving the last one and handing it to my kid.

Bottom Line: 2 setlists (one signed by the band) and a Dave Grohl pick. A nice score to say the least! It felt like the concert was all about us! There can never be another one like this one!

I love it when bands and their crew are cool to the kids in the crowd. really makes me love that band even more. this morning I was just watching the Tower records PJ show from 1991, and Ed paid special attention to a group of kids in the store. he sat them right next to him and spoke with them and everything. it was really cool.

I got into them back before they even had a single of their debut album...I actually went out for dinner with them and hung out on their bus when they came through toronto a few years ago...I have two 7" picture discs both autographed by the band, a set list from that night and an autographed poster...They are huge now and unfortunately, I really didn't like their new album...I'm really hoping they turn it around with their third.

Their live show is phenomenal though....great energy.

You got it! It's funny... my buddy and I laughed on the way out and told my kid to appreciate the moment suggesting that "Pretty soon he was going to grow old and such events will become much rarer!" Of course... I'm all for letting the youth capture these moments for themselves. Us old folk have had our day!

Ed's solo show in Seattle (night 1), he was very gracious towards a father who had his tiny daughter on his shoulders in the aisle- from what I can remember overruling a security usher and allowing the two to get nice and close at the front of the aisle. Ed's a dad now and his paternal instincts dictate his actions more than ever.
