Like a lot of people I was introduced to Glen Hansard when he opened up for Eddie during his last solo tour. At the Hartford show, my favorite song that he played was called "Pennies in the Fountain" in the setlist. I've been trying to find the album that contains this track without much luck. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

    I'm about 100% sure it's a new song.

Yeah its not on an album. I presume it will be on a solo release in the future but it could be a track with The Frames (his bigger band).

Check out this cool Glen fansite here www.orderinthesound.com as the may have a bootleg of that song or learn more about him.

The first time I heard that song was at the Long Beach Eddie show and thought it sounded like Penis in the Fountain. My girlfriend and I, that's a huge fan, look at each other and grin. Glen then proceeds, mid song, to explain to the audience that he is inded saying pennies and the whole place go's up. Guess we weren't the only obnoxious ones.
  • I highly reccomend listening to Leave if you have not already by Glen, It's the most amazing break up song!

“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Found a Hansard NY Met Poster print and bought it INSTANTLY -- was sooo bummed I missed 3 songs of his in Seattle waiting for the EV poster, Leave being one of them, but caught him twice in Oakland, each time ... stunning!

We've got his movie sitting on the dvd player waiting for this weekend, just now getting around to it -- but we bought the soundtrack immediately after the Oakland EV shows.

Yeah, in Oakland he explained that "Panties" would certinaly work, but he was in fact saying "Pennies..."

I was not ready the first time I heard Leave, sucker punch. That is one freakin' powerful song, goosebumps, and after the first chorus I just gave out this lil' stunned "whoa..."

I am a huge fan now! Man, NEVER miss an opening act, you never know....
    [sic] happens
