Just read this message posted By Neil Young regarding High Resolution Audio coming in 2012. Anyone with further info or thoughts on this format?

I have yet to hear an audio source that I like better than analog- I'm very much a vinyl/tape kind of guy- so it will be interesting to see how this sounds. Early CD's sound like crap to me and some of the more recent releases are hard on my hyperacusis damaged ears so I'm crossing my fingers for an ear-friendly digital format.

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Neil usually knows what hes talking about in terms of audio though. I wouldn't believe many, but I believe him.

They've done tests on humans and your average human can't tell the difference between anything at or above a high quality mp3. For most its physically impossible.
You people must have super hearing. I sure wish wish I did!
In my honest and humble opinion, the answer to your question is: when you go from analog to digital. To my hearing, analog is natural waves of sound, digital is harsh dots of noise (no exageration- it's a bit maddening to have ears like mine-honestly :? ). The only reason I care about the possibility of better sounding digital formats is because digital wears on my ears quickly and a lot of music today is only available and/or affordable in digital format. I'm hoping the new HRA at least approaches analog sound more than what's out there now (other than records and tapes, of course).
