Backspacer White Vinyl for Ames 9/3 PJ 20 Posters

Was at PJ 20 in Alpine Valley and wasn't able to get 9/3 posters for me and my brother-in-law. Have Backspacer white vinyl to trade.

It seems hypocritical. This is viewed as helping others. But, selling on Ebay is seen as the devil (and for the record - I would do neither. If I want something, I try to buy it. If I don't want it, I leave it for others to buy).
Sorry this offends you man. I bought a White Vinyl for myself and an extra in hopes I could trade for 9/3 posters. I wouldn't sell it on eBay. I don't think this is "flipping" but if moderators think it is, I am happy to take down my post and not use my extra White Vinyl for trade. My brother in law and I had a great time at PJ 20 and I'm really hoping to give him a 9/3 Ames as a surprise because he's a big poster collector. Not looking to make money here.

How much was the Alpine poster? How much was the White Backspacer vinyl?
It's a fair trade.
There is no question that this is flipping. "Trading" the white vinyl for a $100 poster is the same as selling it for $100 cash. I don't think this meets the definition of flipping that the Ten Club is against though. But there is no question that this is flipping. You can't look at original cost. That is ancient history.
What you just said makes no sense! What is a $100 poster? You mean the same poster that was sold this same month for $30?
Ancient history? So, if this guy waits 3 weeks and THEN offers the same trade, it's ok?
It makes a lot of sense. If you look at the last two Ebay sales for the PJ20 Ames posters the price was about $150. You can't buy the poster for $30 right now (unless TC decides to sell it). So, this person either had to take out $150 of cash to buy the poster at its fair market value, or buy this white Backspacer vinyl for $25 and try to trade for it. If the trade goes through he got a $150 poster and spent only $25 to get it. No different than buy the white vinyl for $25 and "flipping" it for $150 cash, and then using that cash to buy the $150 Ames poster.
I think you need to look at intentions. In this case the intention was to use the vinyl as trade bait.
I don't care that the original poster did this, but I think without question it is flipping.
Trade bait, yes. Flipping for a flipped poster price? Come on! You're sitting on something and you need to pull it out!
So, answer me this: is the trade ok if he waits 3 weeks and then trades for a poster infalted by flippers?
If you're judging based on purchase price, it's fair. Technically the vinyl is older. But the sale dates between these items is 3 weeks!
If the intention to buy something is to keep it for three weeks to trade for something of higher value than originally paid for in the future, then yes, I think it is flipping. I'm not saying it is wrong, I just think it is flipping. I don't see how it can't be considered flipping.
In this particular instance though the facts were that someone was buying a $25 vinyl to trade for a $150 poster. It may be that the vinyl is worth $150, but the fact is that the person only paid $25 to get an existing $150 poster.
Yeah: The bootlegger name does not fit me anymore. This was created when the official bootlegs were released and I was buying them like crazy. Kinda lost interest in buying all of the boots. It is a little insane to buy all of them. The shows aren't that different to where you can buy six from a tour and be covered. Don't need all 72 (or 20 in recent years).
If you thought it was flipping and wrong, then why can't he trade a $32.50 vinyl for a $30 poster? Trade bait or not, he was able to get a vinyl. ONE vinyl. Maybe he finds a guy that bought a stack of posters to trade with?
I'm also willing to bet there are fewer white vinyls than show posters.
But the poster is worth $150 based on current Ebay prices. This person can't go out and pay $30 to get the poster. The value of the poster is no longer $30. Yeah, selling the poster for $150 that you bought for $30 is flipping (but not so much since bought at the show rather than through the Ten Club's no-resale rule).
Let's ignore the Ames poster. Say someone bought a new TV for $150 (cheap tv). The tv is still in the box and still worth $150. If another person bought a $25 vinyl and traded straight up for the $150 tv, then the person essentially "flipped" the vinyl for a new TV. Instead of paying cash of $150 and letting a fan buy the vinyl who was going to play it on a record, they pocketed $125 of the cash and essentially bough the TV for $25 by buying the vinyl for $25 and trading it.
This is fairly logical.
That is fair trade to me, I don't give a shit how much is value now, if someone likes vinyl or poster more and want to trade this I don't see a flipping problem at all.
Putting an item on eBay the same day (before you even have the item in your hands) for 10 times extra more $$ is flipping, this is not.
LIFE WASTED, BLOOD on the PORCH, LAST KISS is a WISHLIST DEEP DOWN NOTHING AS IT SEEMS WHY GO COME BACK ALIVE SPIN THE BLACK CIRCLE and SMILE.
So you would have no trouble with me buying the white Backspacer vinyl for $25 and selling for $150, and then me taking that $150 cash and going out for a nice dinner?
Flipping has a negative meaning here. Call it what you want, but it's a fair trade. Stop trying to spin the scenario into the guy making a $150.
I hope he gets the poster, tacks it to his fucking wall and posts the picture here!
When there is a trade amongst fanclubbers, it inherently improves the positioning of two people in the fan club. When a 10c buys a good for himself, it advances only one fanclubber.
When a 10c buys a good and flips it on ebay, it enriches 1 fanclubber, 1 outsider, yet takes a good out of the pool for 10c member, decreasing supply and making said good more expensive.
-buying and trading within the 10c enriches the most people without decreasing the total supply to 10c members.
I didn't say I was against what this guy is doing, but it is flipping. You need to understand that the poster is an asset with a value of $150. In order to acquire this asset you need to pay someone $150. The flipper says no to $150 and buys a $25 vinyl he has no intention of keeping and trades for the $150 poster.
I understand your argument that it is a $30 poster for a $25 vinyl, but the flipper isn't buying the scratch and dent $25 vancouver 2009 poster, he is buying a $25 white vinyl that he knows has a trade value of $150. The poster owner also isn't going to trade his $150 poster for a $20 black Backspacer vinyl, he wants something with a similar value of $150. If this isn't the case, I'd like to trade my extra avocado vinyl for a Benaroya vinyl (I wonder how many takers I'll get?).
Question: If I buy the $25 white Backspacer album, and then sell it the next day for $150 cash, and then buy on Ebay the Ames PJ20 poster for $150, is that flipping? If not, then why would it be considered flipping if I sold the vinyl for $150 and bought a nice pair of shoes?
I know it sounded that way. I was actually criticizing those that get upset at the eBay thing. I personally couldn't care less. You bought it. Do what you want with it. Carry on...
He doesn't know this. For all we know, the demand might have dropped and it might be worth exactly what he paid for it. You can't assume that just because it sold for $150 in the past, it will do so again. He might actually LOSE money on an eBay auction for this item, after fees and shipping.
