Pisses you off? How? Why? Nirvana were one of the most influential bands of the past 30 years...easily. They were so huge because we all needed to get away from shitty hair bands, Madonna, and Run DMC (who I dig, but you see my point)...Kurt was angry enough, vocal enough, and rebellious enough to suck in millions of people all around the world to listen to what he was saying. Teens are rebelious, experiment with drugs, and are rarely heard. We all felt Kurt was vocalizing our silent voices. Simple, loud guitar riffs that weren't too loud to fit into the Metal category, and not too soft...It was just in the middle of all known music categories at the time, and simply put, Nirvana defined Alternative Rock music. I can understand not liking Nirvana, but not UNDERSTANDING their status is absurd.

yep. as my mom says, nirvana was the one who brought grunge to pop radio stations. she was one of those people in ny that were forced to listen to Q104 for the occasional rock song before there was a rock station, and nirvana was the one who put rock music on stations like Q104. theres nothing wrong with nirvana being perceived as a better band. they were more radio friendly, and in the end, would you really want pj to be more radio friendly?

Hey.. I was fifteen at when I saw PJ first, and as of last year, when I was seventeen, I had well over 1000 Pearl Jam songs on my computer, as well as several video bootlegs. I also spent way too much money to get a Toronto International Film Festival ticket to see Eddie play two songs at the Body of War premiere, and waited in the rain for two hours so I could get front row (which I did). I considered myself a diehard at that point. This year, I flew to NYC to see the guys play both nights at MSG, and then saw Eddie at Massey Hall two nights in a row. I went with a stranger who helped me out with a ticket. Is it really fair to say that young people can't be diehards just because they were absurdly young, or not even born, at the time Pearl Jam came around? Me, I was born in '90 - same year as Mookie Blaylock. Moral of the story: ignore me if this is dumb, I'm a bit stoned. Other moral: young people can be diehards.

Nirvana's records still hold up, with Nevermind still being MINDBLOWING every time... Take Smells like Teen Spirit off that record and it is STILL one of the best records of all time...

The one Nirvana concert I was lucky enough to see At the NY Coliseum in 93, was one of the best experiences of my life...
