thats what people in the know have said.

like K Paul Dumont from the Globe

@GlobeKPD: Some agents, and some B- and C-list NHLers now making their frustration clear to NHLPA. Eager to play. Eager for pay.

they were also about to miss their 3rd paycheck.

I think people on both sides are putting pressure on their 'negotiators' to start making progress.

sure ... but if the PA asked the owners to meet 3 weeks ago and they refuse ... not sure they could do anything else ...

either way - at least it looks like they are negotiating ...

My alternatives are: Mavericks, Cowboys, and Rangers. None of which are acceptable, and all of which are terrible alternatives.

Fuck my life. I need to move. :fp:

Yeah, doesn't sound like much progress has been made with all of these meetings. If these talks break off with nothing agreed on, you can kiss this season goodbye.

OHL is great hockey ... i'm 5 minutes away from Windsor Spitfire games ... unfortunately they don't play a lot of Saturday night home games.

If they aren't making real progress by the end of the weekend ... then I can see talks breaking off.

Completely adequate and in some ways more entertaining than the NHL.

the good news is the IceDogs are served very well by a lock out. Strome, Hamilton, and Richie (top 3 scorers) are likely gone once the lockout is over.

TSN has reported after 4 days of negotiations they are 380 million apart...weren't they like 500 million apart at the start of the week...and new issue has cropped of...how deal with a shortened season...maybe they should first get a deal done to start the season...then deal with a shortened season...

so if they cancel a season for the 2nd time in 8 years, is the nhl still considered a major sports league in this country? i'd have to assume the sport will lose a large portion of it's fan base.

i don't follow hockey much at all and am not aware of the specific problems the sport has...i just find it absolutely baffling that this can happen so often.

I'm not so sure it's considered major now in the states...I live across the river from Detroit and the wings have made the playoffs 20 straight years and 4 championships in that time...but just from listening to Detroit sports radio the lions and tigers garner more attention in January and February than the wings do...just my impression. I would think in most US markets NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAAF and NCAAB definitely is more popular. So I would think their will be damage created by this. Fans in Canada will come back pretty easily for sure.

3rd work stoppage under the current commissioner. No sport dumps on its fans more than the NHL...just ridiculous...I've been to 1 game since the last lock out and only really watch playoff hockey.

Yeah in most US markets I would say that NHL hockey is behind the leagues you listed. It's sad because it's a great sport. And yes, no one pisses on their fans worse than NHL hockey.

Another day of meetings with "no progress". What the fuck do they even talk about in these meetings??? They've met almost everyday this week and there has been minimal progress. I continue to laugh at this fucking debacle.
