Nice win St. Louis.  They controlled that OT.  Looking forward to the games in St. Louis.  I think this is their 4th cup final appearance, but 1st cup final win.

Yes. Our first three seasons were back when it was the established original six winner against the expansion group winner in the finals. Montreal and Boston swept us those first three seasons.
Holy shit. I don’t know how I’ll sleep after that. Just the one win felt like an incredible achievement and lifted some weight off my shoulders. It gave me chills.

Bs played poorly, had only 5 defenseman for a good chunk of the game & still forced OT, despite everything STL threw at them.

Looks like we have a series on our hands.

Isn't it amazing how the game can have us feeling this way?  (Both silly and awesome at the same time!)
When Kings were in cup against Devils, we were in the Devils' barn during Game 2....when it was in OT it was like I was going to have a heart attack with every change of possession.  Cannot imagine how exciting it is for the players/coaches/families who are actually part of the team
When Jeff Carter scored it was like I had just won the lottery.

We waited in our seats until the angry Devils fans filed out, meeting up with a few other Kings fans and celebrating.

Would like to see another fan base get to enjoy that first cup feeling.  Go Blues.
The love he receives is the love that is saved

Somehow a guy skating full bore for 150 feet and not striding into this hit isn’t charging...yet Sundqvist’s hit on the Bs guy who didn’t have control of his body on the boards is boarding. Had he been in control, Sundqvist would have absolutely missed him.

You are correct.  Don Cherry put the blame on the Bruin player...I will post his comments and you can watch for yourself.

    I just watched it.

Its ridiculous this is an issue.  Perfect example why/how big hits are being eliminated.  Fans get outraged, players cry, it gets in the media, and the NHL reviews it and feel compelled to do something (during the regular season he would be suspended for sure).  They will use their buzz-words like 'principal point of contact' and 'predatory'.

What else is Sundqvist supposed to do?  What the hell was Grzelcyk even doing there?

The Bruin player turned his head and saw the Blues player coming, then the Bruin player turned his head into the glass...anyone who has played hockey has been taught from early on keeping your up...the bruin player saw that the hit was coming but choose not to take evasive action or brace for the hit...I did not even agree with the penalty.  One thing I will say is the NHL has a long ways to go before I'll ever say they are pussifying the league...unlike the NFL.  This is turning into a great physical series...

    It's a fast game, hard-hitting game...gotta keep the head on a swivel.

He's clearing the puck, what should he have done, let Sundqvist have the puck?

If the Bruins ran Binnington twice last night & sent a Blues defenseman to the hospital with a nasty headshot, I feel like the reactions would be a little different, but here we are.

    It's Marchand's fault.

Agreed but its okay. I can't wait for the whining about all the upcoming "cheap" shots and antagonism that'll be coming up. Bruins play well on the road and they'll be up for it. Revenge, part of the game, right?

Exactly... Bruins were down a defenseman for a huge chunk of the game, played like crap, gave up a goal on a major mental lapse by Marchand, and the Blues STILL needed overtime to beat them, despite giving it their all.

    Bring on game 3.

We're talking about what 1.5 seconds to react? I think he tried to clear the puck and evade the hit as best he could (that's why he looks a little awkward), but didn't have time. Its a correctly called penalty since Sundqvist drives his head into the glass. Was it intentional, no, most penalties aren't. So giving him 2 minutes was the correct call, had it appeared intentional he'd have gotten more.

    Go Blues!
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

i agree and i'm cheering for the blues.  you can't hit a guy in the head or dive his head into the glass. it doesn't matter the player was off balance. it has to be automatic there.
