So, if negotiations go any longer, players will throw a huge hissy fit?

Good. Let's just all throw temper tantrums. That'll be productive.

kevinbeetle: "Yes. When her career washes up and her and Gavin move to Galveston, you will meet her at Hot Topic shopping for a Japanese cheerleader outfit.

ya ... alternating with the olympics ... i like it ... i think the parity is there now that any one of 7 countries have a shot at winning ...

as for the lockout - it will always be on the owners side ...

For sure the parity is there. I didn't think they'd sacrifice the winter classic...but it appears they might...maybe the season will be lost.

That's a good thing...sometimes those kids appreciate the support more than the NHL guys do. The only hockey I go to is my junior team...better bang for the Buck...I haven't been to a Red Wing game since the 2008 playoffs. Hockey for me sucks here in terms of TV. I live across from Detroit and only a handful of their games are on TV a year...so I never watch hockey till the playoffs anyways. Usually every Saturday it's Toronto on one station and Montreal on the other...I doubt if you combined the roster of those 2 teams that the playoffs would be possible :D.

up front ... looks like a great move ... and definitely gives the owners an up on the PR battle ... but there are details like what constitutes HRR ... i hear the owners wanted to take out concession sales and seat licenses amongst other things ...

5 year MAX contracts? Wonder how they would handle that going forward with all these LONG term deals that were just signed..

then if that stuff is removed then I don't see the players buying in...they sell a lot of 12 beer in those stadiums.

    what the cuss?
You must really be upset with the owners to drop 2 f-bombs in one post ;)

both sides are in for a PR nightmare if they don't make this offer work. Fingers crossed.

I would assume they wouldn't be affected since they were signed under the previous CBA...I think that's why you saw teams locking players up long-term just before it expired.

    I'm not seeing it anywhere...

Is there a time by which the NHLPA has to respond to the offer?

I wouldnt get your hopes up.

Teh NHLPA will see this as a starting point of negotiations and will see it as doing themselves a disservice by agreeing to the terms.

The NHL with people in its corner will then pull the offer blaming the time constraints.

NHL lockout: Owners say they made '50/50' offer, 82-game plan

    http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2 ... rank-luntz

I don't think the players will accept the 5 year contract limit...with concussions these days.

The current proposal is based on the CURRENT definition of HRR, so the details would remain unchanged. This is a huge factor in the fairness of the deal.

one of the links here said it was for the nhlpa to discuss the proposal. they said they just recieved it and have not had time to fully review it or crunch the numbers.
