I'm looking to buying one of the following:
2009 US Tour Bootleg BoxSet
2010 US Tour Bootleg BoxSet

Which one would you guys recommend based on
1) quality of performances
2) diversity of set lists

I just have a few bootlegs right now - two Seattle shows from 2009 and the Gorge 05/06 BoxSet. All of this sounds amazing, but I want to listen to a lot of high quality shows.

Please help me decide :)

2009...you get more shows! even though the best show is boston 2010, more bang for your buck with the 2009 boxset.
    2006: 5/28
    2008: 6/19, 6/24, 6/25
    2009: 6/14 (EV), 10/27, 10/28
    2010: 5/17
    2011: 6/21 (EV), 6/22 (EV), 9/11, 9/12
    2012: 9/2
    2013: 10/15, 10/16, 10/19, 10/21, 10/22, 10/27, 11/23, 11/24
    2014: 10/19
    2016: 5/1, 5/2, 5/8
    2018: 8/20, 9/2, 9/4

I bought both and actually prefer 2010....BUT - I would also say to get 2009 as there are more discs. 2009 is also great.
I would actually suggest buying 2010 Box and 2009 Philly Box. That way you 'Got Some' of both. :P

I think I'll get the 2010 set.. the 2010 set is priced cheaper, so it's still about the same value wise.
    2009: $395/32 shows/65 CDs
    2010: $295/24 shows/48 CDs

I might get the Philly Box, when I get through the 2010 bootlegs :)

Related question, how do I get hold of the 1993 Vegas Bootleg CD?
    Seems like a rare quantity.

Vegas 1993 was never released as a CD, only an MP3 download.

If you want great sounding boots, try and track down the 2000 and 2006 shows as well. All of the 2000-2006 bootlegs were mixed by Brett Eliason (he of 'Live on Two/Ten Legs' fame) whereas the 2008, 2009 and 2010 shows were not. I (and many others) don't think the 2008, 2009 and 2010 boots sound anywhere near as good as those Brett mixed.

The 2000 and 2003 shows were released on CD (you'll need to find them second-hand if you want the originals) but the 2005 and 2006 shows were only downloads (MP3s only in 2005, FLAC and MP3 in 2006).

Here's some download links if you're interested:

Thanks for the links. I'll be definitely checking out the '03 bootlegs, I haven't heard anything from that tour.

I have the Nov 5/6 2000 Seattle shows and the Gorge 05/06 Box Set, both of which do sound better than the Sep 21/22 2009 Seattle shows. Obviously, they don't have any songs from Backspacer. I was going to get the newer bootlegs just to solve that problem.

I hear that the 2011 bootlegs are being mixed in the studio. Are they being done by Brett too?
If so, I'll wait and grab that box.

Yes, the 2011 boots are supposedly being mixed by Brett Eliason in his studio (hence the longer timeframe between show and eventual release).

If you're happy to wait, I bet they'll blow the last few year's bootlegs away.

Yeah, I'm waiting. I'll grab the Box Set when it's out. Thanks for all the info, much appreciated.

I got a ton of the 2003/2006 bootlegs and they blow away the Philly '09 box set for sound quality. The '09 boots have a much heavier sounding lower end and the vocals sound a little drowned out. The '06 boots are the best sounding to my ears.

  • 2010 are the worst sounding boots ever. The 2009 boots are better but that's not saying much. It's not so much the sound quality/EQ as it's the retarded mixing decisions on a lot of them. One of the big problems is with the guitar balance. It seems like every time Mike takes a solo he's too low in the mix, and Stone is too loud. And vice versa! It's as if they got the "Stone" and "Mike" faders reversed.
