man, that song is so powerful.
just listened to the version from the 2nd chicago solo show and i just started balling my eyes out.

i've never heard anything quite so moving.

so... thank you ed.

edit: hearing it again, totally magnified the experience i had when seeing it live this past august.

    completely agree.

and i would maybe add a dash of shivers if you got a chance to see it live on his past tour.

The 2 times I heard ARC in 2003 sounded better than the version I heard in DC this year.

I've never had the song hit me this hard, but my wife told me she was listening to it on her way home one day and she just started crying.

Arc in NJ on the solo tour was amazing; DC wasn't even close, I agree.

I heard it twice in Toronto during the solo shows. During the 2nd show Arc was all I could think of..I couldn't wait to hear it again : )

  • that shit knocked my socks off when i saw him do it @ his solo show in Boston....heavy,heavy shit!! so much is expressed without uttering a word..which at that moment i realized was the only way because how do you even find the words that reflect your feelings

It's incredibly powerful live. You just kind of get sucked into it; it's very surreal. Almost brought me to tears.

  • It was the most incredible and profound musical experience of my life.
  • arc=good song

...no tears though, "black" and "come back" bring me to tears...arc makes me feel good not sad or tearful...

    ....my bank account=tears....

IMHO the best version was L.A.1, and i went to both shows L.A.1 and Chicago2, in L.A. the people was more respectful and Eddie looked more into it. Don't take me wrong both versios were amazing but L.A.1 is the winner For me.

Maybe I'm just missing something, but I was wondering how you just listened to it... I was at the second chicago solo show and I would love to have a recording of that show. is it available somewhere for download or something? just curious.
  • totally agree as well. Seeing Eddie do that live was something I will never forget. It was sooo powerful and moving ....with the all the lights out and the incredible sound. it was total out of body experience.

but what i think makes it even more surreal is that it seems soo powerful and moving to eddie each time he does it. kinda like he is sharing the out of body experience with you.

I "use" ARC as my "emotional cleanse". Really. The C2 version made me cry then, and it makes me cry now. I don't know what it is--there are no recollections it brings to mind to get me to that place, it just does. :)

    Cry on!
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

I was at Milwaukee and Chicago night 1. I am sure everyone that has heard this live had one of the best moments of there lives. Chicago night 1 was awesome, better then Milwaukee for reasons we all ready know. I just closed my eyes and was taken for a ride. ARC + Shrooms + Heineken = All encompassing trip!

  • going to be unpopular for this but, I don't get the appeal of it. Thumbing my way, comeback & I am Mine bring the tear quite often, but I would have rather heard one of these than Arc.

    Sorry =(

i didn't care for it on the album but i was also ignorant to it's significance at the time.

but when i found out what it was about and saw it live it really, really floored me (and it was something i will never, ever forget)

my mom said it best when i played a boot for her and she said "you can feel his pain and hear it in his voice"

I don't know what it is about. Give me the details, if you would. Usually the story or words behind the music make all the difference in the world to the way I view a song.

Thanks. I may really be missing something I should be enjoying!

arc was written for the nine people that died at roskilde.....ed performs 9 "arcs" one for each person, looped over and over....until the solo tour this song was only played 9 times on the 03 tour
