done this yesterday way back in the timber
old school oaks, giants to the sky around them
thorns tearing my flesh bloodying my axe as i go
sweat coming down like a good kind rainfall
muscle and bone erect

feeling veins rushing in the thrusting of a steel blade and a wood handle crashing bluntly onto and into
in through fallen wood no more near birds or blue air
no more fresh crispness to stand under

so i cut the shit up with my bare hands, double bladed axe, and hard work
im not what i used to be so i take breaks and hurt

anyone else???into chopping wood, stacking it, and using it to heat their home or camp?

this land is so beautiful
as far as the eyes can see
no electricity, no running water, no nothing
and very happy to be invited to such a place

i think they like me for my animalistic wood chopping skills

We have a multi-fuel stove and generally we get our logs the right size for the fire. However, we make our own sticks for kindling from the logs. I am a bit of a weakling and I find it hard, can't find the right position to stand in, my axe misses and hits the ground and the axe always seems blunt when it's my turn.

If there was a class in how to chop properly I think I would go on it.

you're a trooper for trying, claire. as we can all clearly see, many here are pampered little shits with no wood chopping experience. y'all aren't very outdoorsy.
eyed would be disappointed in y'all as much as i am.

claire, i have taught a gal or two how to split wood. nothing to it.
i've done it since childhood, the folks had three slaves, us three boys.
and claire, do not smack your shins with the axe when ya miss said wood.
don't chop off a finger when cutting up kindling. that would not be very good.
