I don't agree with this trend I'm seeing of venues and artist banning cell phones from concerts/performances. Jack White, Chris Rock and some venue in Houston seem to have all jumped on board with the idea of the use of cell phones distracts and takes away from the performance. That may be true, but I don't like the idea of handing over my phone in some coat check fashion or putting it in some bag with a lock for the duration of the show. I feel this is a way over reach.

Heading to the DMB show on Saturday. Should we expect a lot of traffic due to the Superbowl? We'd like to park in the ramp so we have a place to put our coats during the show, assuming it won't be a cluster getting downtown.

I know downtown Minneapolis will be a mess.  There are events everywhere.  Streets are blocked off.

DMB is in St Paul, so traffic should be a little easier.  But parking for the XCel is always kind of a cluster.  Recommend getting there early, or consider taking public transport or an Uber.

Downtown St. Paul was a mess this past Saturday evening with the Winter Carnival/Ice Palace events happening.  I can only imagine it will be worse this coming Saturday with DMB, security and all the out of town people for the Super Bowl.  I'll assume parking fees will be increased at all the ramps, and meter free street parking doesn't go into effect until midnight.

If I was planning on heading there on Saturday I'd probably take public transportation, or try to find a spot to park on the street up by the Cathedral/Summit Ave and walk to the X.  There is a "hidden" stairway near the James J Hill House that goes from Summit Avenue to near St. Joseph's Hospital off West Seventh Street that you can take.  The steps are steep so, be careful if you're swilling a bunch of booze.

Anyone thinking of PJ shows in 2018 OTHER THAN Wrigley?   Those will be the only 2 for me....but it is driveable, which beats all the others....even if it has been done before x 3.  Also going for reserved again...it was so nice to just party before the concerts and not worry about a damn line.

Seattle sounds cool because it sounds like a community event, but I think this will be the sought-after pair of shows on this US leg.
Missoula sounds incredible, but I'm sure hotels and airfare/travel will be a nightmare, especially because I think people will view this show as the Moline of this leg.
Fenway sounds great but not doable for all the same reasons as the other two (too expensive, too hard to get tickets etc).  I monitored the 2016 ticket/hotel situation to see if I could score an easy flight/hotel etc, and I literally never found any tickets available to even justify researching flights/hotels.  This is always a tough ticket.

Chicago is basically a "home" show for the Minnesota fans these days, and that's not necessarily a complaint.  Chicago is a fun easy drive/flight with lots to do in between shows.  Sort of a no-brainer.  Also, it will be sort of cool to be able to say you've done all 5 Wrigley shows.  5-5 in baseball terms.  That's a hell of a game at the plate.

We are also doing Europe (sort of a last minute decision for us), and are catching the London shows.

I'm not sure why the disdain for all the ballpark shows.  True, arena shows feel like a true rock show, so I understand if people feel like they're going to be missing something.  But the ballpark shows feel like an event.  Something big to look forward to (almost like PJ20) and the set lists have been as good as any.  Think about how great the 2016 Wrigley shows were...beautiful summer night, beer, great setlists, great friends, in a great world-class city?  Can't beat that.

I concur with the reserved seats. Its always tempting to go for pit to be part of the craziness up close. But, like you mentioned, going to a PJ show is an all day event. The day of is full of fellowship and great fun that when the show starts, I want my own predetermined space and seat.

    I'm 33. I'm an adult. I'm over lines.

As of now, I'll be on a family vacation in Canada from August 10-19, so that limits my possibilities to Seattle 1, Wrigley 2, and the Boston shows.  Seattle is out as I can't justify spending the cost for an in-and-out trip to see one show.  Boston shows or out due to expense of hotels/flights and that it falls over Labor Day weekend.  Wrigley 2 could maybe happen, but it would require lots of pieces to fall in place (and some smooth talking with the wife).  I definitely won't be putting any selections into the lottery for any these shows.  Might have to sit these out and wait for the next go round.

My sister lives like 4 blocks from Wrigley, so it's kind of a no-brainer for me.  Free parking, food, beer & lodging.

I did both Chicago shows last year and did seats.  spending all day in a line to get to GA is not my idea of fun.  Why do you feel that Fenway is too hard to get tickets?  Were the odds not good for these shows in '16?  The only reason Fenway is intriguing is because it is all seats.  Now the price of hotel and plane out to Boston might pull me to do Chicago again.

East coast shows tend to be really tight for tickets.  Monitoring what was and wasn't available in 2016 only confirmed for me that Fenway was - and may continue to be - a tough ticket to get.

    Just another East Coast bias

Too many people in too few shows.  You could make the same claim about Wrigley, but its really not true here.  Our "fan density" is spread out over several large states geographically.  The east coast's fan density is tight.  A show in any big city there draws everyone from every other big city.  Here, a fan in Fargo might not drive 10 hours to Chicago for a show.

I was being sarcastic. I totally know what you mean. There are a lot of people in that little nook of the country. It would be awesome to see them in a stadium or arena in Philly, NJ, NYC, Boston, Baltimore or DC area, but........so.many.people.

Hmmm, what’s this?!? Z is on the reserved seats train? I seem to recall St Paul 2014... you guys made damn buttons chastising me for picking reserved! It was fun watching everyone in the pit, while I enjoyed the clear view in my reserved seat next to Ed’s wife.  =)

Ah, St. Paul 2014.  I hope the super bowl helped jog PJ's memory that Chicago isn't the only Midwest city. :-)

I think the big thing was.. we did GA in our home town thinking it was our best chance at winning them anyway. PLUS, we did reserved everywhere else, which in my opinion.. was the way to go. I won't try GA ever again. I enjoyed my spot the whole night. wooo! can't wait for Wrigley 2018!

Here's my theory....Wrigley night 2 reserved is currently sitting at 99%.  Why not put in for GA 1st, and if you don't get it, then reserved it is.  If I get GA, I will NOT queue up overnight/early.  I don't need to be rail...just give me 5 or 6 rows back and I am happy....which you can get to that spot by going in after gates open.

Anyways....GOOD LUCK today to get what you hoped for, whatever city (or all) you choose

East coast shows tend to be really tight for tickets.  Monitoring what was and wasn't available in 2016 only confirmed for me that Fenway was - and may continue to be - a tough ticket to get.
Fenway % odds make it look like this time around it will be an "easy" ticket.  Interesting
