How was Solid Gold? Any new stuff? We didn't make it to Saturday night's show...

i didn't end up going! my great grandma passed away last monday and the funeral was friday. wasn't sure when i'd get back so i sold my ticket to a friend. well, i got back in time so i thought i would hit up the party bus my friend has (hey- there's an idea for the next pj show- party bus! i got the hookup.) but he cancelled that because his paperwork hadn't come in so he couldn't run it. so i thought i was going to end up doing nothing. not five minutes later i got a call from another friend who couldn't make the doomtree blowout show so she gave me her tix for that and i went to first ave.

strange turn of events, but it all worked out.

    stright up dope

they played 2 1/2 hours straight. i missed the first few songs, which were the first few on the new record i was looking forward to seeing, but they never stopped. everybody but beak/paper tiger got a solo turn here and there (no doubt to give the others a breather) so it flowed well. just a nonstop party. so glad everything worked out the way it did for me- these guys may not be playing first ave much longer.

  • Chris from the Strib music section (great writer) said the following about possible headliners...

    ST. PAUL FEST CANDIDATES
Assuming it will be a rock and hip-hop fest in the vein of Lollapalooza: the Red Hot Chili Peppers (touring all spring and summer, but no Twin Cities date announced yet); Radiohead (same thing); the Black Keys (same); the Foo Fighters (touring into 2012 and always do well in St. Paul); No Doubt (2012 reunion plans); Pearl Jam (is way overdue to play here, but rarely works with Live Nation), Adele (if she gets her voice back), the Roots (can do weekend fly-ins, and played Harriet Island once for River Rocks Fest in 2008); Florence + the Machine; or, if they want more of a geriatric approach, there are the Eagles, Tom Petty or the just-announced reunion Beach Boys lineup.

So nice to see an event finally come to MN like this!

The other problem is that the St. Paul fest is scheduled for June 23 - 24...which of course means will be in Europe that weekend. Guess we can schedule that one off the list of possibilities...haha. Nice research Chris! ;)
