Shawn surprised everyone tonight with the release of Sunshine, his fourth solo studio venture! Most of Sunshine was recorded at Stone Gossard's Studio Litho and features contributions from all members of BRAD, including Stone.

    Shawn stated on his Facebook page that the funds are not there for a physical release at the moment. He's saying down the track, maybe. But the dough just isn't there for now. He's still listed as being signed to Sound Vs Silence on the record label's website, but it looks like he's paid for and released this record totally independently of the label. It's a crackin' album, by the way. It covers a lot of different styles of music sonically. It's quite ambitious for those who don't have a lot of Shawn's mad demos and all. But it's an ambitious record, for sure. Any Shawn Smith is fine by me!

    Love Shawn Smith, listened to some of the songs. I'm not digging it. 1st time I've ever said that. Maybe that's good, maybe it'll grow on me.

    It's a pretty far-reaching and ambitious album. I suspect it's the middle section you're not a fan of. It's actually brilliant though. A song like All the Horses Men is not an immediate song, but further listens show a master work of arranging a song. Give it time.
