All right, so I've had a set of sealed vinyls for awhile and neglected to open them for years. Members on here have convinced me, since I am never going to sell them, to open and enjoy them. Well tonight I started with Ten and went to work. Mind you I have had these albums for many years. Well, I got to Vitology and when I opened it, it had a techno/dance record in it. I flipped out. Thinking back, I bought it sealed at a local record store, prob in 96 or so. sealed or so I thought. I can't believe it. I opened all the rest pissed off just waiting to find another fuck up, but luckily everything else was fine. I just bought another copy of V on ebay for $30. Serves me right for keeping and babying them for this long. The copy I bought on ebay is opened so I am hoping the seller is honest. Now I have a Vitology book in perfect condition with no album. I guess I can hang it on the wall. Well, thanks for letting me vent. Just beware when you buy "SEALED" albums.

That is just...I don't know what the fuck to say about that.

Guess it got "re-sealed" by the store you bought it from.

Oh that is awful, I'm sorry. But what if you had opened them and then later wished you could sell them mint...96 would have been an early time to commit to not selling them, really.

Do you think somebody had opened it and put another record in? Why would they keep the record but not the jacket? It could be a packaging mistake that was sealed the whole time. I think I remember seeing a cd on ebay that was silkscreened with the Vs. art but pressed with something else...someone else will probably remember that better.

Glad you got another one. Reasonably cheap problem to fix. I forgot to buy a poster at DC 06....

yeah, i think someone pulled the old switcheroo. Maybe they had a crappy album, bought this one for the new vinyl and just decided to stuff it with techno garbage. At least the packaging were mint and you can't argue with the artwork in that LP. I'm a little better now. Glad it wasn't Binaural or Riot Act, I've seen those go for $100 +.

Yep. Anything after Vitalogy must have been quite limited because they all fetch upwards of $100 or more

Vitalogy is amazing. Immortality is a gadamn masterpiece! Nothingman is just sooo great, amazing vocal performance. After all these years Corduroy is still one of my favorite live tracks. So much energy in concert.

To the OP: sorry to hear that. That's strange for sure. Did you listen to the techno/dance album :)

No, I will not listen to the techno album that came in it, but I will get my moneys worth and see how far I can throw it....

  • yeah i went through and bought everything on vinyl like 4 or 5 years ago i think and didn't pay much for any of them except binaural and live on 2 legs. i got a few of them off the sony website, a few off ebay and think i got them all for 20 or less. i broke down and bought binaural a few years ago and got it for 50. the sleeve is kinda beat up but i don't really care. then my buddy got me lo2l for my birthday and he got it for around 50 too. i never got a benny and never will unless there is a reprint.

i found my riot act warped when i first opened it and i was pissed because it was effecting the play. i listened to it a few times and then shelfed it with thoughts of buying another copy. maybe a year and a half later i played it again and to my amazement, no more warp, it just worked itself out! sometimes the reason they get warped is that the plastic seal that some of you cherish so much, is actually too tight. i like the way a lot of lables are using the loose fitting plastic like itw.
