This woman is a Harvard law professor. She also an over saw tarp and is running for senate against Scott Brown.
So in other words according to her, whatever success you or I have we owe it to the gov. So I guess those since the tax payers paid for those roads that lead up to Harvard we have ownership intrest in her right? Or someone who is on the Gov payroll. We own them right?
Is this the type of person you want in the senate?
Someone who thinks like this ?
The radical egalitarian way.... Ain't it wonderful?

You know what.....every single person.....no matter what class or color....uses the roads, signs, police, ambulance, hospitals, libraries, etc. So if one doesnt pay any taxes.....shouldnt they make up for it somewhere else?

She has never said anything like that.
Funny how scared republicans are of someone with an education, though.
I agree with you in a since, but I'm not really sure if you could make people do some kind of community service. Could you imagine the backlash? We all pay taxes in one form or another. My over arching point is she thinks if someone is successful in life the gov has the right to take whatever they want. If some one is successful they don't owe it to the federal gov. If anything the gov has made it harder on small busnesses.People don't become successful in life bcos they want to give half their money to the federal gov. Look at the death tax for example. I'm not rich by any means, nor will I probably ever be. People like her live one way and dictate another.
What about this?

:? Did you not listen to what she said? Did the federal gov have anything to do with your movie sales, the production, or any other other of your endeavors pertaining to your business?
Yes. The government pays for the roads that models and production staff use to get to the set, they give tax breaks because we produce movies, they give us regulations to protect the performers, they make sure there's electricity to power our gear...
What do you think tax money gets spent on?
Hey i hear Gay Porn pays well nowadays! Since im screwed in this economy ....i might have to just drop my Christian values and turn liberal! Here I go..........

Well, its either they pay taxes or they buy shit. Poor people aren't taxed so they can buy rich people's shit and keep the economy moving.
"With our thoughts we make the world"
Okay, how much is enough? How much in taxes should we pay? Straight answer, please.
"With our thoughts we make the world"
If I had to describe myself in those kinds of terms, I suppose I would say in many ways I am "liberal" or "progressive" (though I generally don't find such labels very useful) and yet I don't agree with your statement. In fact, I don't know anyone liberal or otherwise who believes there should be no cap on taxes. Most liberals believe there should be some form of fair taxation with limits.
And not all "liberals" agree that endless stimulus is the way to go. On page 48 of his book, Eaarth, Bill McKibben (a man who is considered by many to be liberal in the extreem though I would use the description "highly intelligent") says this about stimulus:
"We're deep in debt, as individuals and as nations, and in an effort to climb out from underneath that economic burden, we've bet yet more money that we can get growth rolling once more. That's what an "economic stimulus" is- a wager that we can restart the growth machine and make back not just the amount we spent stimulating but the debt that caused the trouble in the first place."
(see the quote I posted here for what McKibben has to say about growth: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=171805&start=15
In any case, how can you expect to have an intelligent, meaningful discussion when you make such exagerated generalizations?

Poor people aren't taxed because many of them barely have the means to survive. Let's face it; the poor have been bled dry. They really don't have enough wealth to pay anything meaningful in terms of taxation and they don't have enough to buy anything to keep the economy moving either. Providing the poor huge amounts of credit when they have no real earning power doesn't really help the situation either.
As far as I'm concerned, the poor can start paying their fair share once the wealthy stop using every resource they have at their disposal to consume the trifling amount of wealth that poor and middle-class still maintain. I'm terrified by the fact that so many Republicans openly support economic deregulation after the financial crisis of 2008. The fact that Ron Paul, Rick Perry and others openly suggest that suspending the minimum wage will somehow stimulate growth is terrifying. Third-world America is coming faster than people think.
Unionized labor forced jobs overseas....costs rose....its common sense!
Spending has gone array! Taxes are high!
Uncertainty is high and therefore businesses arent hiring!
No Faith in God anymore!
No principles and values amongst our children!
Sex Drugs and Alcohol!
People dont know what to believe when they hear it....MEDIA is at fault!
A man that stands for nothing....will fall for anything!
All people need to do more on every level!
The third world believes the shit out of god.

I'll admit unions are not what they used to be but instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water, why not get involved and get them back on track? Unions have played a very important role in U.S.history.
Spending has gone awry because we haven't learned that bigger is not better anymore.
Taxes aren't high enough for the most wealthy (but that's only my opinion).
Uncertainty is the smaller part of cluelessness. Peak oil is the bigger problem but it's being stuffed aside.
Whose god? My cat is my god and I have total faith in her.
Whose children? My kids (no scratch babies, but plenty of other kinds) have excellent principles and values.
Sex- yeah what a horrible thing...right? All drugs or just the "bad" ones? Alcohol? Soon, in fact right after I finish writing this. Thanks for the reminder.
The media is at fault? Well I agree a lot of the media is just plain bunk but there are plenty of good choices of media out there if you look for them. Many have been posted right here on AMT.

Sure. We all know that third-world countries are known for their advanced labor rights.
Unions are probably the least of America's concern. It's strange that when General Motors and Chrysler were given $25 billion everybody in the media is freaking out, but when Wall Street is given $800 billion every news outlet has a financial analyst explaining why the banks are too big to fail. Who was held accountable for the debt crisis? Why is it unacceptable for a worker to make a living wage, but perfectly acceptable for a trader on Wall Street to pull in millions while actively defrauding the public?
People harp on people for having decent pensions and job security as if it were a terrible thing. When America was flourishing the middle class took these things for granted. Now that America's in the toilet the lower and middle class are at war with each other despite the fact that America's elite continue to take a bigger slice of the pie. Why is it so unreasonable to expect the individuals that have rigged the system in their favor to give something back?
I agree with you in a since, but I'm not really sure if you could make people do some kind of community service. Could you imagine the backlash? [/quote]
Forcing people to do community service would be EXTREMELY unconstitutional...it would be in direct violation of the 13th Amendment actually:
"Neither slavery nor INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." [emphasis added]
