i was sitting at the library at my school tonight doing some work and took a break before i started my psych reading to listen to 'push me, pull me' on my ipod. i liked the song before but hearing it on headphones blew me away. anyone else feel this way about the song?

I listened to this song about 10 times this weekend. Great song. I've seen people do pearl jam tattoos on their wrist and i could see myself getting this one on my wrist. I probably won't get one, but i could see that being one i would do.

Great song! This song along with Help help are musically and lyrically very underrated in the PJ music catalogue! IMO

You people! Always reading my mind. This is one of my favorite lyrics, and its placement in the song is PERFECT. I love, love, love this song. It is SO under-appreciated.

    For what it's worth...It's a good song.
It totally flows when played on the record. But It's not something I'd put on my iPod.

I've never heard it live...but then again...I didn't think much of "Arc" until I saw Eddie play it live this year. And that song has been given a whole new life because of it.

I agree would totally be a kickass first encore opener!!!!

I hate the beating this song usually takes, cuz I really dig the live version even though it has only been played a few times.

Given the theme of "nature"...I would assume "Sun"...however, you throw an interesting take into the mix.

    Great song

"But let me say; if I behave, can you arrange a spacious hole in the ground
    Somewhere nice, make it nice
Where the land meets my tide
Push me, pull me, push me, or pull me out"

    Love that line.

It is that...however, it makes for an interesting side bar to take that line and insert "son" into the mix.

A couple of smart folks debated this idea yesterday elsewhere and they came to the same conclusion...albeit through different routes.

Very in tune with nature and evolution.

However, you could make the point to take the "son" theory and run with it. I'd be interested in seeing how someone could make that work. It would be a stretch, but a good read.

Wouldn't be the only "religious" reference in a Pearl Jam song from Yield either. GTF could almost entirely be interpreted as a song about Jesus being "a human being given to fly".

"First he was stripped then he was stabbed, by the faithless(faceless) men" etc. I dunno I'm not religious or anything but far too coincidental.

right, that is one that gets discussed a lot. the jesus interpretation would be a false interpretation IMHO, but it gets thrown around quite a bit. seems oftentimes people look for christian symbolism in songs that is not intended to be there, but each takes from a song what one is looking for i guess. marker in the sand or faithful both address religion quite specifically, as do a number of other tracks, but I don't see it in given to fly or push me pull me...the latter seems almost anti-religious to me, but then again, that is a personal interpretation. there are a number of ed interviews where he touches on the subject specifically, so gaging from those responses i doubt he is placing christian symbolism in songs, but i guess he would know best...:)

I think they have always left that door open in their music. They never really take sides in the argument though, always seems to be a search thing as opposed to already found or given up. But again that's just me, and again not religious in ANY sense of the term just saying is all
