GREAT fucking show...possibly the best PJ I've seen. The energy was great, the band was loose and having fun, but still technically really solid, the crowd was into it...the setlist was amazing as much for what they did play, but also for what they didn't play. Great, great show.

Great day in a weird but great city (haha...sorry Winnipegians, I felt like I was transported back to 1981 in some areas  ). It started off with my wife and I heading down to the Forks (upon the recommendations of many locals). We walk in and see the cool skatepark and decide to take a seat and check out the kids skating for a while. After about 30 seconds, I start to think about how on "Immagine in Cornice," they show Jeff Ament skateboarding in a closed skatepark. Immediately as I'm thinking that, I look at one of the "kids" skating, and it looks eerily like Steve Turner from Mudhoney. I look across on the other side of the bowl and that "kid" looks eerily like Mark Arm from Mudhoney. And there's another kid, who looks eerily like Jeff Ament! Yes...this is my "I Met Jeff Ament" story. My wife and I walked over and said hello, and they were all super nice. We got to take a picture with Jeff and Mark (we told Steve to come in too, but he insisted on being the photographer! ). They were all very, very cool and friendly. I'll post the picture once I figure out how. The serendipity of it was the coolest part. Plus, I always read about people meeting guys from the band and how cool the stories always are. Now I've got one of my own.

Then, at the preparty, I won two posters (including an Ames one from the Euro tour in '06 I think?) and a weird black and white one, plus some weird rock and roll picture book (with a picture of Slash's dick -- weird!).

Capped off by one of the best shows I've seen, it was an awesome, awesome time in a cool but weird city.

    great story...

I think it's really cool that so many people post about how the latest show they have seen is the "best show they have seen yet". Myself included.

Amongst The Waves makes an appearance! Awesome. That was one of the songs I was hoping to hear this tour, but alas, I didn't hear it at TO1 or Ottawa :)

  • As always they were super tight- no doubt they've been together 20 years. I always enjoy their dynamic on stage- how they feed off each other...Also Amazing musicians who really know how to please a crowd. "Go Jets go!"?! When Eddie joined us in the chant?!- that my friends, was priceless... as well as his comments on why Canada is so great! Furthermore, how great was it that they played Search and Destroy; with Mudhoney too?! That topped it for me - they always cover songs that are important in regards to the history/progression of music. Mudhoney rocked too!

    wow...what a review

Pearl Jam at MTS: A Perfect Ten
There are good concerts. There are great concerts. And then there are Pearl Jam concerts.

They’ll tell you what’s what. For their $70 — a bargain by contemporary concert-ticket standards — they got an epic 150-minute set. They got more than two dozen songs spanning the band’s career. They got a pair of lengthy encores. They got covers of Joe Strummer, The Stooges and Neil Young. They got to share Eddie Vedder’s wine. They got to hear news about his family. They got guitar picks and smashed tambourines. They got to sing at the top of their lungs and dance like merry drunken fools. They got to hear Eddie make up a ditty about the Jets.

  • wow, Indifference, WMA... nice.
  • Still in shock I think...

    Won the ticket lottery - row 1 seats 8 + 9...

Ed gave me a smashed tambourine he played for most of RIFW...

Wedding and births aside - the best day of my life.

Still can't believe this happened and would almost feel guilty if I won again in Vancouver (only other show I'm going to this tour) because I hope every truly dedicated fan gets a chance to have this same experience. Actually I guess that's why they did the lottery -haha!

Take my number out of the lottery for Vancouver Ten Club!

PJ20 doc in 2 days!!!!! Vancouver in 7!!!!
  • I was sitting directly behind the previous poster
who got the tambourine from Eddie-
    lucky bastard!

    Holy jeez...
    First time purchasing 10C tickets,
    + I got row 2.

How the heck am I gonna top THAT
    in Calgary or Edmonton?
    Who cares- it's all awesome!

It was- I'll just say it-
an honour to be on that floor,
    with so many excellent people.
    I was the grey-shirted guy
that kept turning to look up at everything.

It was truly 1 of those
    holy-shit-how-did-I-end-up-here
    moments.

    Can't wait to do it all again;
    cheers.
'Cause you don't give blood and take it back again.
  • had a fucking blast! flew in yesterday, flew home this morning at 5am. totally worth it! 5th row dead center, great crowd, great energy.

show was great, band was on fire. setlist was kinda standard, but not every show is gonna be a rarity packed clusterfuck. band delivered the goods, hands down. so glad i decided to make the trip.

just arrived home, and finally resting up from the weekend. It was a long drive but very worth it. PJ didn't disappoint whatsoever. I got to be on the floor and it was just better than i could have ever imagined, especially the sound of the band and crowd. Just letting the show sink in a bit more before hitting up youtube and looking at some of the performances. Great show, great set and met some great folks. Winnipeg was very kind. I guess the waiting game begins for the next show thats close enough which won't be for a good while.

    Hope everyone got/gets home safe.

    =======================================
There are good concerts. There are great concerts. And then there are Pearl Jam concerts.

As anyone who’s had the experience can (and enthusiastically will) tell you, there’s nothing quite like a Pearl Jam concert. Not even another Pearl Jam concert. In a business based on playing it safe and sticking with the program, these Seattle stalwarts — currently celebrating their 20th anniversary — prefer to play it loose and fly by the seat of their pants. Every one of their shows is a little bit different than the last. Every show is a little bit special. Every show is an experience, an event — something between a shared religious epiphany and the world’s largest campfire singalong.

But don’t take my word for it: Ask any of the 12,200 devoted fans who jammed MTS Centre for the band’s second stop in the city on Saturday night. They got a fiery opening set from their old pals in grunge pioneers Mudhoney. And they got to go home knowing that the show they saw belongs to them and nobody else. That’s why the fans love Pearl Jam. That’s why they follow them on tour. That’s why they post every set list on the band’s website instantly (and thanks for saving me some time there, kids). And that’s why they pore over the details of every second, every song, every show. So let’s get down to the details, shall we?

Had a great time at the show yesterday.
One of the highlights for me was them playing Down. I also had some moist eyes for I Got Shit cause it always gets me when I hear it live. Loved the Indifference for the closer. But would have been happy with YL too cause thats one of my favs.
Got some pics from Mike. Got some great pics and recorded a couple things. We won the lottery and almost died. Row 2 Mikes side. I couldnt have been happier.

Thanks to everyone that came out the pre party. The woman (Erin) who was the CMHA rep was impressed with the turnout and has told me I must let her know about these things because of the great crowd and great work that we all did. Kimberly pulled this one together for a great party.

Cant wait to head on to Sask, Calgary and Etown. See you all there!
the person below me smells like cat pee and raisins...
