  • wow, Indifference, WMA... nice.
  • Still in shock I think...

    Won the ticket lottery - row 1 seats 8 + 9...

Ed gave me a smashed tambourine he played for most of RIFW...

Wedding and births aside - the best day of my life.

Still can't believe this happened and would almost feel guilty if I won again in Vancouver (only other show I'm going to this tour) because I hope every truly dedicated fan gets a chance to have this same experience. Actually I guess that's why they did the lottery -haha!

Take my number out of the lottery for Vancouver Ten Club!

  • I was sitting directly behind the previous poster
who got the tambourine from Eddie-
    lucky bastard!

    Holy jeez...
    First time purchasing 10C tickets,
    + I got row 2.

How the heck am I gonna top THAT
    in Calgary or Edmonton?
    Who cares- it's all awesome!

It was- I'll just say it-
an honour to be on that floor,
    with so many excellent people.
    I was the grey-shirted guy
that kept turning to look up at everything.

It was truly 1 of those
    holy-shit-how-did-I-end-up-here
    moments.

    Can't wait to do it all again;
    cheers.
'Cause you don't give blood and take it back again.
  • had a fucking blast! flew in yesterday, flew home this morning at 5am. totally worth it! 5th row dead center, great crowd, great energy.

show was great, band was on fire. setlist was kinda standard, but not every show is gonna be a rarity packed clusterfuck. band delivered the goods, hands down. so glad i decided to make the trip.

just arrived home, and finally resting up from the weekend. It was a long drive but very worth it. PJ didn't disappoint whatsoever. I got to be on the floor and it was just better than i could have ever imagined, especially the sound of the band and crowd. Just letting the show sink in a bit more before hitting up youtube and looking at some of the performances. Great show, great set and met some great folks. Winnipeg was very kind. I guess the waiting game begins for the next show thats close enough which won't be for a good while.

    Hope everyone got/gets home safe.

    wow...what a review

Pearl Jam at MTS: A Perfect Ten
There are good concerts. There are great concerts. And then there are Pearl Jam concerts.

They’ll tell you what’s what. For their $70 — a bargain by contemporary concert-ticket standards — they got an epic 150-minute set. They got more than two dozen songs spanning the band’s career. They got a pair of lengthy encores. They got covers of Joe Strummer, The Stooges and Neil Young. They got to share Eddie Vedder’s wine. They got to hear news about his family. They got guitar picks and smashed tambourines. They got to sing at the top of their lungs and dance like merry drunken fools. They got to hear Eddie make up a ditty about the Jets.

There are good concerts. There are great concerts. And then there are Pearl Jam concerts.

As anyone who’s had the experience can (and enthusiastically will) tell you, there’s nothing quite like a Pearl Jam concert. Not even another Pearl Jam concert. In a business based on playing it safe and sticking with the program, these Seattle stalwarts — currently celebrating their 20th anniversary — prefer to play it loose and fly by the seat of their pants. Every one of their shows is a little bit different than the last. Every show is a little bit special. Every show is an experience, an event — something between a shared religious epiphany and the world’s largest campfire singalong.

But don’t take my word for it: Ask any of the 12,200 devoted fans who jammed MTS Centre for the band’s second stop in the city on Saturday night. They got a fiery opening set from their old pals in grunge pioneers Mudhoney. And they got to go home knowing that the show they saw belongs to them and nobody else. That’s why the fans love Pearl Jam. That’s why they follow them on tour. That’s why they post every set list on the band’s website instantly (and thanks for saving me some time there, kids). And that’s why they pore over the details of every second, every song, every show. So let’s get down to the details, shall we?

Had a great time at the show yesterday.
One of the highlights for me was them playing Down. I also had some moist eyes for I Got Shit cause it always gets me when I hear it live. Loved the Indifference for the closer. But would have been happy with YL too cause thats one of my favs.
Got some pics from Mike. Got some great pics and recorded a couple things. We won the lottery and almost died. Row 2 Mikes side. I couldnt have been happier.

Thanks to everyone that came out the pre party. The woman (Erin) who was the CMHA rep was impressed with the turnout and has told me I must let her know about these things because of the great crowd and great work that we all did. Kimberly pulled this one together for a great party.

Cant wait to head on to Sask, Calgary and Etown. See you all there!
the person below me smells like cat pee and raisins...
  • they never disappoint. all night... yes please .... down, thank you very much. it's been 5 years since my last live show and this was the fix i needed.
the oceans made me, but who came up with love?

Amazing Amazing show Sat!! So many highlights.. all have been listed here already. I, too will be at the doc in 2 days and Van in 7 days!!! Can't wait to do it all again!!
  • Amazing show! Some rad gems in the set and I had 16th row floor in the centre. Can't wait for Edmonton on Friday. September has ruled for PJ fans. I've been meeting some great people at the shows and it's much appreciated. Real World Alpine Valley crew rules!
  • I will have to say after 10 pj shows over the last 20 years that this show will go up in the top 2 shows that I have ever seen these guys do. Setlist = awesome, Crowd on floor was amazing - even when Ed jumped in just a few feet from me, people were respectful. No other band I have ever seen has so many nice, respectful and really cool people. Met some great people and missed some old friends!

Loved the interaction with the crowd, Indifference I have not heard live since before 2000. Inside job, WMA, and the band's fun mood sticks out for me as a real highlight.

Thanks guys for doing what you do and to this fanclub - I never thought in 1995 my ten dollars would buy me a life style :-D

That's intersting about the Neil Young riff. It's not the first time that has happened, though. He definitely riffed it at Barrie in the beginning of the song.

Obviously I don't post often, I had some experiences very early on with old and now defunct groups that turned me into more of a lurker, and I also just don't have a lot to contribute as this was only my 3rd time seeing the boys play but wow. Just wow. What a show to be fortunate enough to attend!

The Sun article pretty much summed up the night, the highlights for me being Porch (probably still my fave song from Ten), I got Shit (the song that finally allowed me to say to my mother; "see? Pearl Jam is so damn cool they play with **Neil Young**! 8-) ), Crazy Mary (I think for those few mins I really was 16 again), and of course Just Breathe turned me into a sniffling emotional mess (Backspacer was released a couple months after my Grandparents were killed in a freak accident, AND my mother chose that song to play at the end of that same year at my step-dad's funeral, so it's a tough tune for me to listen to).

I had very nice 6th row seats on Mike's side and ended up sitting next to a wonderful couple from Nebraska, everyone was so nice! I wish I was braver and had made a point to meet a few more of the fan club members, but with only being able to attend one show, I was so overwhelmed by it all! My hubbie (aka Mr Surly) jokingly teased that at both shows he has attended with me that my 5'2" self had been seated behind the tallest fan club member at the show -- I am neither young enough nor hot enough to attempt standing on a chair even for half a song before security would tackle me, ( ) so after craning to see as much as i possibly could (apologies to anyone behind me who I probably drove crazy), hubbie was quite thrilled to see the next morning that i was physically unable to shake my head no to anything cuz my neck had seized up, LMAO! I am probably lucky we didn't end up with a new truck or something on the long drive back up North the next day!

The evening ended with a really nice walk down Portage, which I haven't done since before I moved away from the city in 2003, we caught some really awesome indie Jazz while we waited for the bus back to my friend's place, and even saw.... a polar bear??? (Ed, have you taken to hiding under costumes out in public again?? ROFL!) All in all, worth every single thing I had to sell in order to pay for my tickets, and I really hope the boys come back again soon - my 4 year old was very disappointed she wasn't allowed to come and see them play this time, so next round, it's her turn ;) Thanks Ten Club and Pearl Jam!!!!

I was originally going to see PJ in Vancouver and was incredibly sad to realize I had to be out of town on the 25th. I had never thought about going to Winnipeg but it was a damn good decision (despite how much it cost!!).

My husband and I flew in Saturday afternoon, grabbed a quick bite with a friend and then headed to the MTS Center. Given that I just purchased my tickets through ticketmaster last Monday, we got some seriously decent seats! The show was incredible - every time I see these guys, it's like watching them for the first time. I loved the opening (Why Go - one of my favs) and ending it with Indifference was awesome!

32 hours in Winnipeg for my Pearl Jam fix. Thanks for another amazing show guys!!
