HI everyone.. have a favor to ask. What do think would be the best PJ songs to listen to when you are trying you damnest to permanently remove them from your mind? I got myself out of a very emotionally abusive relationship and the person still haunts my memory. And well, since PJ as always been there for me, I thought that you guys could help too.
Warmest Regards
Here’s a question you might need to ask
What’s self destruction and how can we last?

"I cannot stop the thought of running in the dark.
Coming up a which way sign. All good truants must decide."

From my experiences, it's almost impossible to erase someone from your mind. I think the best advice would be to try to make peace with your past experiences, learn from them, and use them to strengthen your present-day self.

I would hesitate to seek out a song to get you beyond this -- associating a song with this event could be asking for trouble. On each future hearing of said song.... flooding back it all comes.

Certainly RVM is a self-survival song.....Another I would choose would be Leash.....
"...Drop the Leash.....Get out of my fucking face."
I realize it's not meant to be a "break-up" song, but keep singing that to yourself and you'll move on in no time.

Because RVM is about such a scenario, it might not help getting it out of your head. Try stuff that has alot of energy. Those songs are able to distract you and hopefully lift your energy level up.

    Either way, good luck!

I don't want to pertain these songs to a person but to use the songs as a tool.

come back is possibly the worst song to play in this situation, its all about wanting someone to come back and being patient for it

this situation calls for a survival song, RVM or even alive works well

Have someone new now, who has helped me with the situation because he was there to watch it all happen, just thought music could help too. And I do find it pathetic that all this happened back in November of '07. Just want to move on and keep distracting myself from the flashbacks.

A couple that come to mind for various reasons:

Indifference - "how much difference does it make?"
    RVM - for obvious reasons
Animal - "I'd rather be with an animal"
Inside Job - focus on yourself instead of the other person
Present Tense - bookends nicely with inside job.

It's not an original PJ tune, but Leaving Here touches on some of the themes mentioned.

    take up boxing or karate
    ;)

music is too viceral and connected to our emotions IMHO
and there are so many lyrics that touch on relationships

maybe a little metal would help-but that would fuel anger or resentment

Perfect. Couldn't have said it better. The last thing you want to do is associate your favorite band ever with your least favorite person ever.

True but I've been listening to Pearl Jam way long before that colostomy bag came into my life. Maybe I should listen to some Courtney Love, I'm not that into her and it's angry enough.

Thanks so much everyone I'm so glad that I could turn to all of you! :D

No problem. Out of curiosity, are you a boy or a girl (not that it matters)? Just curious.
