Julian Casablancas on backing vox.

How awesome was Julian backing up Not For You and RM....
Never was a fan of the Strokes until seeing them live in WI... He's got an awesome voice.

RM was awesome! It was pretty cool how you could tell Julian is just a huge fan of the band like any of us...
I also loved Not For You with Casablancas.
Red Mosquito, however, was destroyed by Casablancas' voice. I couldnt tell if his voice just doesnt fit in the song, or if his mic was turned up way too loud. The chorus just sounded really, really bad IMO. The guy I went to the shows with said the same thing as well.
Only heard Not For You a couple times. Not as much of a fan of that, but think he was a long way from ruining the song since most of what he did was during the little chimy outro part.

yeh it has to be. no one with any degree of hearing could possibly have anything positive to say about his performance.
off key, out of time, destroyed the outtro of n4y with some juvenile ramblings about "jamming with his favourite band"... regarding the ends of both songs, he just finished them abruptly with no feel of the song- like he wanted to get out of there... i think the outtro to RM was also an error, not an intended layer.
as well as this he looked like a try hard with his fluro boots, leather jacket and sunglasses at night.
maybe he was unprepared? maybe he's just a dud.. but looking back, he should not have shared the stage.
for RM he didnt even look like he wanted to come out, almost like he was embarrassed after his cringeworthy efforts the night before. he actually took the mic stand from the front of stage back to matts kit. so i applaud him for realising this... ah well.
after 8 yrs, corin tucker is finally off the hook.
I don't know about that. The Strokes broke out in 2001 and peaked in 2003, so it's not like they're from the buzz bin or something.
I thought they sounded amazing Friday and weak Saturday but that could be because I was in good seats Friday.
It was a dream come true seeing them open for PJ -- the perfect opening band, imo, with the tempo and quality of their songs.
made him ... want to be everywhere
there's a ... lot to be said for nowhere."

It's funny, the criticisms people have of JC regarding his voice, mannerisms, etc., I am sure we could dig into concert review archives and find people saying the same thing about Eddie.
"His voice sounds different", "What the hell was he wearing", "He seemed nervous or shy or awkward", "He seemed in awe of his favorite band".
Plenty of comments about Ed's voice back in the day, all of them wore clothes equally as ridiculous as JC's neon Nikes, Ed would turn from the audience as if afraid at times, and has gushed plenty about The Who, Neil Young, etc.
Exactly what I thought. I can't listen to Not For You with him on it, completely ruined it.
